Default Manny at Carnival

This guy at Carnival named Manny has started calling me every time I visit the Carnival website. Actually, he started bugging me before my last cruise. Now I'm afarid to go to the website. The last time he called a few weeks ago I explained that I'd just become my elderly father's caregiver and would not be cruising for a while. I just got a call from him saying he'd noticed I'd been on the site, and what could he do for me. (He is not my PVP.) I told him he could quit calling me. At that he hurridly said something and hung up on me. If Carnival wants to keep me as a customer then they need to call off the hounds.

Next time he calls... get his extension # and call CCL yourself, ask to speak with a supervisor and advise him of the "cold calls" you keep getting from this guy when you visit the CCL website. Tell them you have let this guy know you are not looking to cruise right now and you do not want future calls from him or other PVP's and that YOU WILL CALL when you are ready to book your next cruise !

The easiest thing to do is to tell "Manny" that you use a Travel Agent. The calls will stop.

You can clear the carnival cookie on your computer and explore the page without logging in.

I suspect they know you're there by the login.

This is totally NOT acceptable.

I can't STAND cold calls from anyone. If I want to talk to somebody, I will call them.

IF you have a PVP, I would tell them.

IF you don't have a PVP, call Carnival Guest Services and they will put an end to it.

Btw, your father is so blessed to have a daughter who sacrificies to care for him. You are a VERY special person!!

This is odd - I also have not received these unsolicited calls. Perhaps there is something there in the registration that indicates you want to be bugged - and I'm sure OP did not meant to select it.

Are we sure "Manny" works for Carnival? My PVP gave me both her first and last names when I 1st contacted her? Could this possibly be a scam that has nothing to do with Carnival? Just a thought.

I've thought of that. He has given me his first and last names in the past, along wiht his extension. I pretty much believe he is from Carnival.

I am going to email my PVP about the situation as I am tired of the calls.

Thank you for the kind words lhp.

Usually any time after I have logged onto Carnival's site to look for past cruiser deals, a few days later I get either an email or phone call (or both) from Kiki. She sounds nice in the voicemails she leaves, but I've never picked up the phone. I suppose I should one day just to let her know I have a travel agent now, and am just using the website for additional research on my own.

Hmmmm, interesting thread!

Just yesterday I got a call as well, but it was kinda justified I guess.

A month or so ago I inquired via email with some questions about group rates as we are condidering a "Family & Friends" cruise in the fall of 2013.

They called me and asked if I was making any progress on our potential group cruise, and they also said that I was recently on their website. I am always on their website for the psat several years.

I suspect this is something new they are doing and I wouldn't be surprised if more people here experience this.

I initially believe this is a result of my group cruise inquiry, and that I had made an attempt to communicate with them. HOWEVER I believe their "System" is targetting potential business for their agents using a combination of website visits (hits) and what you are viewing.

I will say this about Carnival, they are a smart, well run company and nothing they do surprises me.

I have received some calls as well. After we booked with our gal at AAA we never received any more calls. This will be our first cruise ever and I was looking up information on the Carnival website and at one point you have to register to get any further so I think that is how they are getting the "leads".

I must give kudos to this Cruisemates site though. It has so very helpful for a first timer like me..a wealth of information. Thanks so much to the repeat cruisers for contributing to this site.

We sail in 11 days!!!

On June 8 my blog discussed a "cold call" from a Carnival PVP

Carnival read the blog and responded within days, and I printed their response...

Thank you for the links Kuki.

Mind you, I've really enjoyed the two cruises I've taken with Carnival and would like to use them again in the future, but I think the responses you got were bull****.

The PVP I used to plan my first cruise told me that he did not get commission. If that is the case, why are there zealots like this Manny guy?

I was suspicious that it might be a commision based job as well, but I did not get a call from "Manny" I received a call from a girl. She was not pushy at all. Very personable. And trust me, I have a severe hatred for telemarketers and I often rip them a new one! But I do like Carnival so...

The only weird part about the conversation was, like in the first post, was the remark that I am visiting their website. It was like this less than 2 minute conversation went from a caring, polite, personable one to "We are spying on you". Huh? That point is common between myself and the other poster, yet came from two different representatives, so it sounds like their training includes a tool for potentially spying on us, but I don't know how it helps them to tell us that they are spying on us

Kuki, thanx for the post, I have suspected for a long time that Carnival likely reads this forum and you confirmed it. So to Carnival I say...

Pull up my past S&S accounts. I think I should now qualify for a discount on Bud Light or some price cap that when I reach it, my Bud Lights become free
