Government shutdown???

Any guesses as to what happens to the cruise industry if the government shuts down. If customs doesn't function are the people already on cruises stuck? Will cruises set to depart be allowed to leave?

Have not read or heard where anything regarding cutoms, tsa, homeland security, etc...being affected by the possible gov't. shut down.

From what I understand, "Essential" personnel will continue to work and will get paid when all is resolved, and "Non-Essential" personnel will be furloughed without pay.

In my way of thinking, Customs, TSA, Homeland Security, etc. would be considered "essential" but then again, we are talking about the government.

Nothing big will change for traveling, Only thing I don't like is the military not being paid, everything else they can shut down for a year. Im sick of the BS from everybody.

I did just find out that all Passport production is being halted until a budget is passed.

Passport "processing" will probably be put on hold if there is a gov't. shutdown as it would be considered "non essential" by gov't. definitions. But that would not stop anyone from submitting for a passport via USMAIL and it being received and placed in a "pile" when business resumes to normalacy !

This whole thing is a joke and a slap in the face to taxpayers and our military !
