Arriving in New Orleans during Jazz Fest

We are sailing out of NO May 7. Had a hard time getting a hotel room then discovered why...it is Jazz Fest. What I am now wondering is this going to impair us from getting to the port timely. It is held at the Fair Grounds which is not that far from the port. We usually head over to the port around 1030 am. We had to get a room in Sliddell which is like 30 miles away from the port. I know some of the music festivals around here will impair traffic for hours going a short distance and i know we have that very long bridge to get across into New Orleans. Anyone with experience with this??? Thanks!
