I read somewhere that the Valor has karaoke with a live band. Is this true?

I don't know for sure if "Valor" has it, but they probably do by now. It's called "Superstar Live Karaoke", and it amounts to singing from a list of about 100 songs. The "Band" consists of a guitar, keyboard, bass and drums. (At least that's what they had on "Dream" a couple of weeks ago.) It is a lot of fun, but I found the song list to be somewhat lacking. Of course, it might be exactly what you like to sing, so I can't say that for everyone. In any case, it's something different, and fun. I wound up singing "Jailhouse Rock", and "Crazy".
Have a GREAT time aboard, and I hope Valor has "Superstar Live Karaoke".

Oh yea,,,forgot to say that YES, the words do come up on a monitor for you,,,just like regular karaoke.

I've never done Karaoke .Mrs.Henry 43 feels I will make a fool out of myself .I have to do it one night after she is asleep.

They had Superstar Live Karaoke on Freedom in February. Don't know if it is fleet wide, but my guess is that it is.

I am assuming that the Valor has it.

Just remember that in standard karaoke, the key can be changed.

However in Superstar Live....the key can not be changed.

The songs on the Glory ran one semi-tone low....but I don't know if that will be fleet wide...

is there regular Karaoke as well on the Dream? Im going 7 days Sept 3rd

That list isn't that great...very little diversity. Not every voice can sing fast pop. I can do Broadway and classic country better than pop.

Yes, there is. In fact, they not only have "regular karaoke" in the evenings, but on a couple of afternoons they have an hour or so of regular karaoke, at the "Ocean Plaza" on deck 5, near the casino,,,,and that was LOTS of fun.

Yes, just check the Fun Times...because it gets moved around a bit....
and sometimes it is in the afternoon as well....

On the Glory...they had about 20 more songs than the original list. But I don't know if that is Fleetwide.

Hopefully they will continue to add songs and variety....

"Dream" had an addendum of about 10 or 15 songs,,and that's where I found "Jailhouse Rock". Most of the additional songs were the same type music as well,,,,,unfortunately.
When they were talking about singing with the production band, I was picturing the WHOLE production band with the brass, the reeds, and the whole shebang! I was all ready to belt out lots of "standards"! WOW,,what a disappointment! Oh well, it's better than nothing, but if it replaces the passenger talent show, as was suggested by John Heald, then they can keep it!

I think John will always have the Talent Show on his cruises (although he limits it to 4 acts) because he uses it has a segway into his Bedtime Story.

Well, I "sang" on the M-Dam, but there were not as many to show up for Karaoke this being a New England?Canada cruise with mostly older people who went to bed at 2100. :p
At least I got more chances with the microphone.
Karaoke is much better on Carnival !:cool:

Thanks for the update....I have often wondered how the sister cruise lines measure up.

I did Superstar Live on the Magic a few weeks ago, and they were selecting guests to perform in the Talent Show/Bedtime Story from the pool of people who did Superstar Live instead of an audition.
