Question why are so many cruise people so nice

People on cruise ships tend to be so very nice. Why is that ?
Do you think it is mostly an act ?
There are many unpleasent people in the world, so either they...
1) don't take cruises
2) take cruises but put on the facade
3) take a cruise and hide in their verada suite for a week.
4) it is all me, while on a ship I see the proverbial glass as half full.

I've found that to be true as well. That's one of the reasons we love cruising so much. Most folks on cruises seem to be "down to earth", and not "putting on the dog", trying to impress you with "who they are", or how "important they are". They are just there to relax, and have a good time.

I actually believe that the vast majority of people we encounter in everyday life are quite nice. You just notice the "bad stuff" and the good stuff isn't as noticeable.

However, I do agree that on a cruise people seem to be more laid back and less hassled. This lack of stress probably puts many people in a much better mood.

Take care,
Mike

We do tend to take nice people for granted.
There are many people who seem content in their unhappy melancholy state. Sometimes they reject "silly" people who attempt to lighten the mood. :-x

That's one of the things I love about cruising, the people you meet. I love being a social butterfly on the ship. Lots of great people.

You need to cruise more, we have run into very nice people and are still friends from years ago, write and e=mail each other, and we have run into people we hope we never run into again. Overall more good then bad, but there are some real complainers out there, and over some real stupid things. Just felt like at a table for 8 you always have that 1 couble that the world just didn't treat right, and you had to listen to them moan all week.

On my last cruise we opted to carry our own bags and be anong the first to leave the ship . In front of us was a couple with their in-laws.In front of them was a woman most likely in her 80's and walking very slowly .The guy in front of me ,probably about 40 asked the elderly woman to walk faster ,when she did not ,he threw her to the ground and was about to walk over her until other passengers grabbed him and summoned ship security . I've never come across anything like that in 50 + years of traveling .

Oh I cruise as much as I can.
11 in the books, one this weekend, another in September.
That's just it I get addicted to that kind of people only to fall hard with the realization that it might just be a fantasy world.

It's always a mixed bag, but I think you generally meet more nice people. Like Mike said, most people are relaxed and happy to be there, so that helps thier moods.

I think the ship can rock the mean out of you - like rocking a colicky baby to sleep.

I have encountered some "not so nice" people on cruises - you can usually find them at the purser's desk complaining about something.

Thoth, #4 ! When someone start's to be a horse's patootie we move away! We're also the people who don't leap up as soon as the plane's seatbelt signs go off :-D !

I think a lot has to do with the difference between people who are still working (and stressed out), and people who are retired (like us )!

that's right When the plane lands, I wait until the door is open to get up. Some attempt to leave when the doors are closed. Ain't gonna work !
I'm still working, but still I look for ways to be *less* stressed. I'm a huge beleiver that when we get ticked off...we lose one year of our lives, and when we sing karaoke we add a year, go to the disco and dance...add another year.
wishful thinking.
