Default Galveston Port

Hi All,

Thinking of taking our next cruise out of Galveston Port. Would be flying into Houston the day before. Please share with me how you've got to the port? Taxi, Carnival transfer, rent a car? If you rented a car, can you drop it off at the port?

We've flown into Houston Hobby Airport the day before. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Airport (they have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport the next day). We booked the Carnival transfer from the airport on the day we sailed. We had to "invent" the flight we came in on ! It wasn't that hard as there were many flights into Hobby that day.

Galveston is my 'home' port, but I have no personal experience flying there. I've had relatives and friends fly in for group cruises and I know it's not one of the easier ports to get to by air, but it's certainly not the worst either.

It may be one of the exceptions to the rule of arriving a day b4. I see Fern has a system and the cruise shuttle may be the best option, but that only runs on the day of the cruise.

I think there is only one rental car place in Galveston and its not open on Sunday. If you are thinking about a 7 day leaving on Sunday, you will have to get there early and turn it in early Saturday .. so you will be on foot which isnt bad on the SeaWall. Take a taxi to the port.

This is one of the hardest ports to fly into. I had people on my Voyager roll call who said Galveston ..never again. Shame because I love the port myself.
