Sail and Sign card on a lanyard
We've been on two Carnival cruises and are going on a third in a few weeks. I remember seeing many people with their Sail and Sign cards hole-punched and on a lanyard around their necks. I never did find out where they had that done. It seems so convenient and I assume they can get wet since I saw people going down the waterslides and in the hot tubs with them around their necks.
So, where do I get my card hole-punched and buy a lanyard?

You can buy a lanyard in the Gift Shop on board the ship or you can find one in a local office supply store. If you buy it on board they may have a hole punch in the Gift Shop, if not the Purser's Desk will have one.
Have a wonderful cruise,

As soon as the ships casino opens the first evening stop by the Casino. They are free. Have a great cruise. Ed

That's great info! I don't usually go to the Casino and DH doesn't like to use a lanyard, so I had no idea ! I'll have to visit the Casino on our next Carnival cruise for the "freebie"!

I carry my own hole punch with us because on one cruise the pursor's desk did not have one that worked. I have also started using one of the lanyards that comes with a clear pocket slide in holder so that i can carry the card that I use to open and close the safe with me at all times also. I have used on of those hotel chain cards to use rather than a credit card so that way if i lose it ..no worries. Any card with a magnetic strip works.

I used my CVS loyalty card to open the safe, and kept it in the light slot

Wow! I did not know that about the card for the safe. I assumed it had to be a credit card. That is great info to know! Thanks!!
I, too, will be making a stop by the casino for my free lanyard. Thanks for that, cruised1014.

The cruise lines recommend NOT using your sign and sail card for the safe - primarily for security purposes. If someone were to "find" your card they could access your cabin and safe with the same card.

We have a old credit card that can't be used anymore just for the safe. We always put in our cruise packet

how would the person finding the card know what room you are in? I guess they could just walk up and down each hall and try every door.

I remember when the cards did show your cabin number.

The things that are free in the casino are not really lanyards, more like bungee cords to me. I have hooked them around my neck though. The ones in the gift shop are nicer and have a detachable clip feature which is handy. The cost is $4.50 and are available in blue or red. Just get the card punched in the casino and you can use the ring that comes with the lanyard to attach it with.

The casino can be fun. I won about 150 bucks on the Carnival Liberty.
