Default [help] Carnival Magic - Cabin upgrade

Hello you all,

Me and some friends are going on our 2nd cruise, but the first with a big company, in 2009 with cruised with Pullmantur, a smaller company.

Now we're going with Carnival, and with the new and funtastic ship - Carnival Magic.

We have made our reservations a few months ago, and today we received an upgradeo, free of charge, and we got this cabin:

LIDO DECK
STATEROOM: 10202
CATEGORY: 4J INTERIOR

EMPRESS DECK
STATEROOM: 7231
CATEGORY: 4E INTERIOR

Please tell me your personal opinion about our cabins, especially the 10202. Itís right in the front of the carnival magic, with obstructed views, and on the 10th floor, from your experience on carnival, should we have any reservations about our cabins ? are they in a good location?

Thank you all

You are in the front of the ship and you may feel more movement. The good thing is that you will have a partial view and larger cabin. If you are not prone to motion sickness it's good cabin.

The other cabin is also at the front but is the same cabin as you had but on a higher deck.

Take care,
Mike

You are not much more forward than your original cabin so the motion will not be much different. You will have a window that overlooks a little observation balcony - of course other people can go out there and observe so be careful of your curtains. The observation area can be quite breezy when the ship is under way. If the ship is doing 20 knot then the winds are at least 20 knots. You will have nice access to the pools.

Thank you guys.

But do you think it's worth it? I'm a little concerned about beeing so high and in the front of the ship, should I relax?

Put my at the aft of a ship I'm delighted. Stick me in the bow of the ship and I'd trade for just about anything else.

In my view it's just not a great ride "up front".

Plus... to be frank, an "upgrade" from an inside to inside, or outside to outside isn't an upgrade to me regardless.

sorry Kuki, i didn't understand what you said.. are you saying you would accept this upgrade?

My upgrade was from Riviera Interior, to Lido obstructed view.

My frinds upgrade was from Riviera Interior to Empress interior.

I would definitely keep the 10202 cabin. For me a picture window is better than no window at all! We've walked on some of the small forward decks on other ships and, while I wouldn't stand in the cabin window naked , you really can't see into the cabins.

Also, Lido deck is close to the pool and the buffet.

As far as the other cabin, I'd rather be on Empress Deck, just because it's higher and it's closer to everything, but an interior is the same on both decks.

Have a wonderful cruise!

I thought the note said.. Interior. But, to be honest, I personally really don't care for cabins that far forward.

You'd think aft and fore would be alike, but I find the ride upfront to not be as comfortable.

I think the reason Kuki doesn't like the forward cabins is that you may feel more "pitch" (the movement from forward to aft). In the aft cabins you'll feel more of the "roll" (the movement from side to side). We happen to love the aft cabins, too.

If you check out prices, you'll see that the higher priced cabins are amidship, where there's thought to be not as much pitch and roll.

Having said that, both the pitch and the roll are almost nonexistent on the newer ships unless you are in very rough seas. The stabilizers usually keep the ship very stable (thus the name ).

So, again, I'd go for the Lido upgrade!

The Magic was the 1st time I ever stayed forward, For my cruise at least, there really were no issues at all for us.

One unusual thing about the Magic, was since the open atrium went up so high, to our 9th deck, by the elevator can hear the music from way down below. I wondered if the cabins right there, were bothered at all.

Trip, on our last Carnival cruise on the Conquest we also ran into that problem. We booked a forward cabin, not too far from the elevator on the Lido deck, and the sound's from the Atrium came right to us ! Thankfully, they quit playing about 10 PM so it wasn't a huge problem, but it was a problem!

I'd like to know about the doors on the Magic. On the Conquest there were "vents" in the door that seemed to let in any noise close by!

I prefer aft to forward as well, but this upgrade was from a forward basic interior to a larger forward cabin with a window. That's a sweet little upgrade.

I hope OP comes and tells us what they thought about it.

While we'd love to hear from you, please check to see how much $$$ it will cost to use your phone while on the ship! I've heard stories of people having hundred's of dollars in cell phone charges without realizing they were being charged .
