My husband and I would like to go on the Dream in March and are planning to go out the day prior and stay in Port Canaveral. We would like to know the most reasonable way to get from Orlando Air Port to Port Canaveral. Thank you
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Carnival has a shuttle bus that goes from the Orlando airport to Port Canaveral ( no cost). Check with your travel agent or Carnival to make sure, and to find out about departure times.
There is definately a cost for bus transport to the pier from MCO. I think its about $35 pp.

You're probably right. It's been about 4 years since we took a cruise out of Port Canaveral. I don't specifically remember paying for the shuttle bus, so it was probably included in our payment for the cruise.
If you are flying in the day before your cruise, the cruiseline shuttles are not available. They only transfer passengers from the airport on cruise days. I highly recommend renting a car for the hour drive, very easy! We rent from Budget which is the closest to the port and they have a free port shuttle. You can go to Grills for dinner which is located at the port.
We have also used Cocoa Beach Shuttle service from Orlando and were very satisfied. Enjoy.

Rent a car. Gives you freedom to look around in the area or the Canaveral area and not be locked into someone else's time. If you've never been here, it will be hard to get lost near Canaveral, it's not big city life, the port is simple. They say there's a Walmart nearby so you can pick up last minute things too.
Keep in mind, its a good 45 minute ride from the airport in Orlando to the cruise terminal, although just about the whole trip is highway driving, so it is a good distance. The OP wants to stay by the port and she is going a day early, so there would't be a cruseline shuttle. The only way to do that would be to drive back to the airport on cruise day and pick up a shuttle...Yes, there is a charge for the cruiseline transfers and the price someone quoted was for both ways.

I guess what you are saying is...the shuttle fare is for both ways. So, to get this fare, they must return to Orlando and be transported back to Canaveral where they just spent the night. Then, let the shuttle bring them back to Orlando at the end of the cruise.
Transfers may be purchase pre-cruise, post-cruse or both ways. However, since OP is coming in a day early pre-cruise does not make sense. If you rent a car be sure you can drop it off in Cape Canaveral or Cocoa Beach, otherwise you are paying for a car and parking while you are cruising.
One of my area favorites is the Pier House

You can rent for around $50 for one day versus $70 one way shuttle for two people. Much better deal plus the freedom of doing your own thing and having your own wheels. If you have more than 2 people it certainly makes no sense to take the shuttle to the pier. Save that for the ride back to MCO after your cruise.

There will be 9 of us,we will be using Sunshine limosine service , the cost for this will be $40 each round trip including tip.But if it was just two of us a rental would be the cheapest bet. Carnival wants $70 round trip
What's your sail date? We will be flying in from Nashville on July 9th to sail on the Dream. I have been looking at Sunshine Limo and they look good. I can't believe how much the price has increased looking back on some old posts. The gas prices are killing us!
On the idea of hotels with shuttle, we stayed in Days Inn Cocoa Beach across from the pier. They offered picking you up from the airport, and getting you to your cruise.

We are flying in to Orlando, staying at Rosen Inn at Port Orlando. Staying here because we want to go to Ripleys Believe it or not and Wonderworld that night and its within walking distance. Hotel was priced just right. Mears transportation is taking us to the hotel - then back to the airport the next a.m. where we are catching a transfer from Carnival to the port. Hope this helps.
One drawback of the cruise line shuttle is after debarkation. That shuttle will not leave until it is full or darn near full. Our friends missed their flight due to that fact. The ship was cleared late by customs and cruise line would not adjust the shuttles to leave quicker.
We just got off the Dream last Sat ( 22nd Of Oct ) and we booked the transportation from MCO to the dock through Carnival and it was $170.00 for my wife and myself round trip. Was approx 45 minutes ride. There were people from Carnival in the baggage area when we got off the plane to escorted us to the bus and we were on our way within 30 minutes. Same when we got off the ship. I would do it again.

Hello there, Wendlick. Like a huge fan of the cruises and a guy who needs almost every year transportation to Port Canaveral I always gladly recommend the services of Private Orlando Airport (MCO) to Port Canaveral Transportation . At first I was not quite sure what shall I do to find the right transportation service to the port. I found it at google. It offers various private transportation services to many different destinations: from Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral, Disney World Parks, Orlando Resorts and more. Personally I liked the trip. It was safe and convenient. The drivers are real professionals and I could not expect more. My entire family was satisfied and happy what was the most important thing for me. Since then I became their regular and ordinary customer. This year I am planning to use their services again to the Port Canaveral where NASA will host events for the 50th anniversary of space exploration. If you need more information about their services you can get a quote on their website or find them on Facebook or Twitter.
