looking for Carnival Magic ship reviews and excursions
Hi all!
I am new to Cruisemates.
I am looking for fresh reviews on the Magic and all I find is the Inaugoration ones. Has anyone been on western meditaranian side? We are sailing on the July 10th and would like to book some excusions, but first I like to read what people have to say who have just done it. I hope someone can help me...

Welcome to Cruisemates!! I was on the inaugural cruise and we do share some of the same ports of you of course, so here is what we did, all ships tours, and, all "on your own tours"
In Naples, we did Herculaneum, and it was wonderful..like walking on ancient history. The guide, Guido...was wonderful..like an actor taking on characters, he made history come to life.
In Sicily, we went to Taormina..just a delightful city, with greta shops cafes and a Greek Theater. We dined in a piazza overlooking the sea,and people watched.
In Florence, we walked all over, and saw the Duomo, and happened on a marathon, and saw the men, in local costumes who toss the flags in the air..quite the wonderful spectacle.
For Rome, unfortunately I needed to stay onboard.
You can see my pics in our Gallery, and see all I have mentioned. If you would like the brochure of excursions, I can arrange to have it sent to you. The person I sent it to switched cruises, and is holding on to it..Let me know with a pm, and your name and address and I will let her know to send it on to you....any more questions, just ask away...

Thank you to all who replied! So far we booked two excusions; Rome/Vatican&sixteen Chapel and Naples/Sorrento Amalfi. We are planning to do on our own;the tower of Pisa and time on the beach. It seems like if you book too many excursions you miss all the fun on the ship? already my boys (15&18) are complaining they won't have any time on the ship, which they love! my biggest worry was Naples and now that I convinced my hubby to book with Carnival, I feel a lot better and safer.
Q's: Will there be a Captain's night? If so which day? Are there washer and dryers on this
ship? What is the lastest time you can be seated for supper? Does the Magic have one or two main shows a night? What time is the latest one? I know we cannot do it all... but perhaps I can do a little more planning ahead of time with your help.
Thanks a bunch! you guys are great!!

Formal night was Captain's night and I think it is your first sea day. There are washers and dryers. We used the ones on the 2nd floor and they were never busy. 8:30 is late seating for dinner. Some nights there is only one show, some nights there are 2. When there is only 1, it is at 10:00 pm. When there are two, you go to the one opposite your dining time.
