My husband and I are driving to galveston in May 2012 to cruise on the Magic. My brother and GF are going to fly to Houston and meet us in Galveston to board the ship. Question- Is there a shuttle from the Houston airport to Galveston?? What is the cost?? or is there a Hotel shuttle that they could get?? WE could go get them, but this is a question we all had.
Thanks for the help.
Nancy
Nancy, are your brother and his GF flying in the day of the cruise or a day before?
Carnival offers a transfer from both IAH and Hobby the day of the cruise. I think it's about $35-$40 pp.
If they're coming in the day before the cruise, I'd suggest they rent a car and drive to Galveston.
We've flown into Hobby the day before, stayed in an airport hotel (with free shuttle) for the night, then gone back to Hobby and taken the cruise line transfers to the ship. It worked well .

If you utilize the Carnival shuttle as we did in Houston, just know that their shuttle will pick up from every terminal, and, then make the hour and a half drive to Galveston.

If you stay at the Holiday Inn Hotel Galveston, next to the San Luis Resort, they have a parking lot you can use at no charge and they have a shuttle that takes you to the Cruise Terminal at no charge as well. This a sweet deal because the the last time my wife and I cruised, Carnival was charging $10/day to park in their parking lot.
There are several private companies who provide shuttle services from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Houston Hobby. You can google this and compare fares. Galveston Limousine Service charges $45 one way or $80 round trip, from Hobby. Note that there is an extra charge for more than 2 pcs of luggage and 1 carryon per person. Just as a note, Hobby is closer to Galveston, of the two.
Enjoy your cruise and your time in Galveston!
