Default At Last! Carnival Revises the "Legends" show!

According to John Heald, the "Beards" at Carnival have, at long last, eliminated some of the most debated "Legends" in the Carnival Legends Show! Starting in August, aboard the Magic, a new "Legends Show" will be debuted, before being released fleetwide. I like most of the changes, but am curious to know what y'all think.

1. Tina Turner What’s Love Got To Do With It
2. Cher Turn Back Time
3. Neil Diamond Sweet Caroline
4. Gloria Gaynor I Will Survive
5. Garth Brooks Friends in Low Places
6. Shania Twain Man I feel Like a Latvian Woman
7. Bruce Springsteen Born In the USA
8. Michael Jackson Billie Jean
9. Elvis Jailhouse Rock/Hound Dog
10. Frank Sinatra My Way

The only Legends show I have seen, was on the Epic last year. We had Rod Stewart,[fabulous] Michael Jackson [fabulous] Brittney Spears [baaaad] Enjoyed the show and would love to see another.

For the ones listed:

1. Tina Turner What’s Love Got To Do With It
If her wig & legs are great, this will be a winner
2. Cher Turn Back Time
Same answer as above
3. Neil Diamond Sweet Caroline
Every Red Sox fan will be happy

4. Gloria Gaynor I Will Survive
No one knws what she looks like..I could sing it
5. Garth Brooks Friends in Low Places
Only if he swings from the rafters
6. Shania Twain Man I feel Like a Latvian Woman
Huh,? NO!
7. Bruce Springsteen Born In the USA
This will have people on their feet

8. Michael Jackson Billie Jean
This song again?
9. Elvis Jailhouse Rock/Hound Dog
Would have liked a later song
10. Frank Sinatra My Way
The Grandma's who were bobbi soxers will swoon

Springsteen and Neil Diamond are good calls but Gaynor and Twain? Gaynor was a one hit wonder and although Twain had some hits I doubt she should be considered a legend. Also, why did they keep some of the original legends? Did they just get fresh outfits and need to wear them out? At least they could have changed the songs up. Michael Jackson will almost be a parody I bet. Lastly what outfits will Neil Diamond, Gloria Gaynor and Springsteen wear? The performers can wear their own clothes I am guessing without any noticeable difference.

Several of these are the same, so its not a complete change. The show has always ended with a bang with the same Frank sinatra show. Its always someone good. ... though part of me would like to see more changes.

maybe have a 15 choice possible and the 10 who fit best are the ones that they have in the show.

Im particularly glad they removed the Brittany Spears song which I actually like. .. but having some fat middle aged woman in pig tails dressed as a schoolgirl to me was just embarrassing.

I can't really remember exactly what was in the old show - but if I knew I could give you a better idea of what I think.

Do you know?

Yep, three of the ten are carryovers from the OLD "Legends" show. I agree that they could have kept Elvis, and Frank, but wish they would have given them new music. I'm totally tired of Garth Brooks, and "Friends in Low Places". Of the other "OLD SEVEN", I never thought that any of 'em were truly legends, so the replacements for them is certainly welcomed. Some of the new folks are questionable, in my mind as well, but at least the show will be a bit different, and the music new as well. I don't know how long it'll take Carnival to get the new show started on all of the ships, but I can't wait to see it, and with any luck, perform as one of the "Legends" in the new show.

Do you know?
Elvis Presley - Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock
Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places
James Brown - I Feel Good
Ricky Martin - La Vida Loca
Elton John -
Britney Spears - Baby Baby?
Frank Sinatra - My Way
Aretha Franklin -
Gloria Estefan -
Madonna -

Can't remember the music for all of 'em, but I'm sure somebody else will.

I hope they get rid of that tired Sonny and Cher with Sonny on his knees and Cher is the CD in drag. Iv seen it too many times. The third time you see your CD in drag it just isnt a funny gag anymore.

Its not one of the legends, but they do that skit during it on every legends show.

Sky - I've got to disagree, a little. Aretha Franklin is truly a legend

Yes,,,of the SEVEN, she is absolutely the closest to being a Legend. Actually James Brown is pretty close as well, but Britney and Madonna??? I don't think so! And how about Ricky Martin? What did he have,,,one hit song? In any case, I'm glad they're going to change the show. Most people, myself included, are tired of the same songs, and the same "Legends" over and over again. I agree that the Sonny & Cher routine is a bit old, and lame too, so perhaps they'll change that one too, since they'll have Cher in the show. Should be interesting to see what they come up with to replace it .

omg am I so glad to hear that....the Sonny and Cher and Brittany Spears were just old. Not to sure on there song choices ie..Bill Jean...as I don't know of to many people who can sing it like Michael did....anyway love the change as it was getting so old and boring as this is our 15th cruise with Carnival.

I agree Venice. There are lots and lots of singers who actually ARE Legends. Wouldn't it be GREAT, if they had a list of Legends, and the song associated with that legend that would be performed on stage, then they let the person selected CHOOSE the Legend they wanted to be. That would make the show different each time it was performed, and therefore the show wouldn't get stale for the other folks who cruise a lot! I guess that would be too much of a "logistical nightmare" for the production staff, and the dancers.

This old list is still on some ships.

I was just Gloria (again)...on the Carnival Spirit for our Hawaiian cruise.

Since it was 15 days, they had the talent show AND the Legends Show...
I had a BLAST!!
