All of our Carnival ships have had a similar deck plan (2 Conquest class, Destiny and Splendor.) The biggest problem I think most have with this layout is going between the lobby and the aft dining room because the galley and mid-ship dining room do not allow passage through.
When it finally dawned on the DW and I that we could go down the deck two and pop up where we wanted to be. It felt like we have have found a "secret passage". Now we call it tunneling.
My apologies now to those who like to book cabins on deck two.

Just have to remember the two decks with the galley do not go thru. I personally usually prefer going up to deck 5. Seeing all the stuff on deck 5 makes the walk seem much shorter.
Deck 2 with all the cabins, one after another, is a boring walk.
More often than not, my cabin is on deck 1 or 2, so I just walk all the way to the stern, and pop up to the deck 3. No problem "mon". (Guess I've gone to Jamaica too many times?)
No matter where you are on the ship - just go to the rear stairwell and go down (exclusing the decks that don't go through, of course).
I have always though that is the worst design - plus why not put the Maitre D' on the upper level? As I recall the main entrance is on the lower deck - right?
