I don't have to print any. I get them in the mail. We stll do things the old fashioned way.
Some cruiselines do send you printed tags.

As a "novice Carnival cruiser" I was wondering how you attach the printed out luggage tags to your luggage..I am worried about them getting torn off when being loaded onto the ship. We drive down so no worries about any airlines losing them, just want to make sure they are secured enough to our suitcases. I'd HATE to not get a piece of luggage delivered to our cabin
We have cruised 7 times before with Royal and I must say we do like having them send out our luggage tags to us, so this way of doing luggage tags is all new to us, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
We are counting down now to our 5th Carnival cruise and from day one we have laminated them, while I believe their instructions says not to. It really works the best from a durability point of view. Then use a hole punch in the corner, and pick up some of those tiny cable / zip ties (tie wraps) at Canadian Tire or Walmart. We also use those to hold the zippers together on our suitcases. This works great for flying too. In an instant, you can glance atyour suitcase and know if someone was in it or not. Key thing to remember here is you need to pack a small pair or wire cutters, or it could be real hard getting into your luggage later. We usually throw a pair of those in one of the outside zippered pouches on the outside of the suitcase. Take your extra cable / zip ties in your carry on.

I usually print luggage tags 2- 3 weeks before sailing.....use a return address label and stick it on, then stateroom # and some clear packing tape. Then a couple staples to hold it over luggage handles..... very strong and never had one torn off yet, and did not have to turn it into a "craft event" or bring wire cutters, scissors, etc !

"Craft Event" ! As another option, I suppose you could write all the information on the front of your suitcase with a Sharpie if you're not "Crafty" !

We usually print them, use clear packaging tape and then punch a hole along with using zip ties. Seems to work out very well for us, but I do wish they would send it to us like the good ole days. We usually keep one used tag as a souvenir reminder of the cruises we've taken.
I never realized that you've printed them so far in advance, so I'm going to print my out tonight. Suppose to be VIP this trip, so I want to see it the paperwork shows that.

I use the term "craft event" merely because of those who choose to laminate, punch holes, cable ties, etc...... my method is simple and requires minimal effort and has never let me down yet. I supppose you could write info down with a sharpie, but address labels we have sent to us all the time from various organizations at no cost, saves time !

I will print the one when I print all docs after final payment. I only put our last name on it, since it already has cabin number.
Then a couple days before the cruise will copy to cardstock paper the number of tags I need. I fold as directed then use packing tape to make more durable and use a piece of packing tape to secure to luggage handle. Since we drive I always have out toiletries in a carryone and I have a small pair of scissors to cut off after luggage is delivered to our cabin.

Our TA prints out our tags, etc. . She even folds them for us! I fill them out, cover them with clear packing tape and punch a hole in the top. When we get to our hotel the night before we sail, I put them on with twist ties or cable ties.
Works for us!

is there a reason your luggage tags dont come with the cabin number on there like everybody elses?
Sounds like you are making a project out of it but that's your choice I guess.

Now that I re-read that post, it appears this person is making a tag from scratch instead of printing the Carnival generated tags. Nonetheless, they took a poke at me for being "Crafty". Sounds like they are more crafty than me.
Packing tape works well for sure, but I happen to have easy access to a laminater so for me thats easier than packing tape.

I have finally figured out a way to secure my printed luggage tags without taping or laminating. They are luggage tag holders from *edited for commercial content* They are the best and reusable. I like their other cruise accessories too.

Fold your printed tags the way instructed. Then use clear packing tape to "laminate" them. Take the packing tape with you. Then when you get to the port. Run the "laminated" tag through a handle and use packing tape to tape the end together. I also use the clear packing tape to tape a label on the top of a case of water. And once around to insure it doesn't open. or I found some clear sleeves that you put the printed labels in. They are great.

I just print and fold as instructed then slip them through the handle of my luggage and staple. Never lost one yet. They do not come off easy. I also put them on my carry ons. Just in case I lose one on the ship before we can get to our rooms. Since they are folded in thirds they are pretty sturdy.

I printed mine out and we don't leave until Nov 26! I couldn't wait! I have a whole folder with everything from hotel, cruise info, my friend’s rental car, copies of my passport & travel insurance.
Thinking about it I must have too much time on my hands! Guess I better start planning for my 4 day trip to NY in spring.
