Catalina Island, Dominican Republic

Need a little help. We are sailing on the Carnival Miracle 10-18 Nov 2011 on an 8 day Southern Caribbean cruise. One of the ports of call is Catalina Island, DR. I have been told that this is indeed an island and it is a 45 minute tender ride to La Romana the port on the mainland. We have been to La Romana and do not need a repeat. It was a wonderful stop but we do not need to return. Can anybody tell me:

1. Is La Romana indeed a 45 minute tender ride from the ship?

2. Are there any excursions that are just for Catalina Island? The descriptions on the Carnival page lead me to believe that most of the excursions are to the main land (La Romana).

3. Has anybody taken any excursions on Catalina Island? And if so how were they.

Thanks for any help.

Never been as our ship didn't stop but I think it's just a beach stop.
PS... just checked the destinations guide on P&O, they don't offer any excursions.

Noticed it also says 20 minutes from Romana by boat.
