Taking a wheeled walker onboard
 

Has anyone found it a problem to take a wheeled walker onboard a ship to get around?

My MIL and FIL used wheeled walkers when we cruised the Norwegian Star to Alaska and had no problems with them. Their walkers folded so storing them, in their oveanview cabin, wasn't a problem.

The biggest problem was they had to be "gate checked" when we boarded the plane. Truthfully it really wasn't much of a problem.

You will often see many of the wheeled walkers onboard. I do suggest it is a collapsable walker.

Yes as Mike said, it shouldnt be a problem on the ship but keep in mind that some ports are tender ports. The move from the ship to the tender can be tricky.

My DH uses a walker on cruises as he has severe back problems and the walker makes walking much easier for him. He doesn't use it at home, just on cruises. It's great also in that at times it's quite a hike from where the ship docks to the actual port area. If his back really bothers him, he just sits down on the seat for a couple of minutes.

I do have to say though that at tender ports, he rarely gets off the ship as it is too difficult to get on the tender with the walker. He enjoys a quiet day on the ship while almost all others are off. Sometimes, depending on the port, I stay on with him.
