The reason you received an invitation to the repeater's party is because you have sailed on Carnival (or Princess, Cunard, Seaborn or Costa etc). The only benefit from sailing another line in the Carnival family is that you are considered a past guest on all their lines. No other benefits are transferrable from one line to the other.
I read on Cruise Critic that on some other cruise board it mentioned what the new Platinum benefits are being looked at. Has anyone seen them? If so, can you post where you read them? Thanks.
I undersood you can get past guest rate on the other lines, but that cruise is not credited to your Carnival account...Right?
Wow we are now going on our 8th cruise. I am dissapointed I probably wont make platinum before the change. We loved the thought of getting on first and the benefits of VIP. This also has kept me from sailing on other cruise lines. I do love Carnival but woried about the change.

Dido.
Are these new proposed rules posted somewhere?
This month will be our 8 cruise on CCL and was looking forward to being Platinum but now that may not be the case.
I always thought that it was unfair that someone could sail on 10 cruises and book the lowest category and me booking suites most of the time and that other person would have the same status as I. (spending twice the money) Like getting comps in Vegas. Why should someone receive comps when they spend much less than I do. JMO! Isn't it the same thing. They reward you by sailing 10 times thus making more money.
With these new rules, will it also change by booking a suite and receive some of the perks such as first on and first off the ship? That is something we have always like about booking a suite.
Our oldest son is now at 24....so he will have to do one more before the end of the year.....just to make sure he is "grandfathered" in!!!!

Just got off the Dream and I asked the CD and several other people regarding this and they all said they hadn't been told anything about this.
I was concerned because this was our 8th cruise on CCL and one more before going Platinum but then again it really doesn't make that much difference to us because we normally book a suite anyway and receive "most" of the Platinum perks as well.
Just found this site while searching for news on the new changes. We just completed our 6th cruise and have #7 in Feb. and #8 booked on the Breeze when it gets to the US. We are also concerned that we are this close and may not make it to Platinum. We have always taken at least 7 days with a balcony except for our first cruise which was OV. We even just got back from the 12 Magic in Barcelona. John Heald has said that the ones who were close would be grandfathered but no one has said what will be close.

Welcome to Cruisemates. I hope you will contribute to the message boards.
Yes, that was an odd comment IMHO, who is to say what is close? They must have a plan for those close, but as you say, what will it be?

This is so frustrating to me. I just came back from number 9 by Carnival's count. I actually have 11. The first 2 were taken in the early 80's before this program started. So here I am on the brink of becoming platinum and next month I will be back to start. I think this is unfair since I actually do have more than enough. There is no possible way I can even get on a 3 day before the first of the year.

Laura, do you still have paperwork from those first two cruises? When Carnival first posted my Past Cruise History on thier web site, it was missing my first few cruises from the 80's also. I contacted them about it, and they said if I had any proof such as boarding passes, confirmations, receipts, or even the embarkation picture (which shows the date and ship), they would add them on. I sent them some copies of what I had, and they took care of it.

Jamman I wish I did. I had the invoice to one of those cruises. That could take care of it. Here is the heart breaker to all of this. I had the invoice to my cruise on Mardi Gras in 1984. I put it in the memory book I made for that cruise. I lived in NH at that time. During one of my moves I stored things in my friends basement. Ultimately in my move to Florida those things got left behind. I was moving myself just in my van. I took just my clothes and little else. About 3 months ago the woman whose sister owns the house where my things were stored called me from Mass. She had taken my boxes and sorted them out. She was sending me my photo books and other things. It gets worse from here. She knew I was going on a cruise but wanted to send them on a Friday from Mass. I was leaving that Monday for my cruise. I would be back the following Saturday morning. We both figured that was safe. UPS has never got anything to me in a mere 7 days. So after work she took my 10 boxes to UPS and sent them on their merry way. Meanwhile I was relaxing on the serenity deck of Inspiration. Saturday morning we are coming into Tampa and I got my cell phone out and turned it on. I had a series of messages from a UPS driver asking when I would be home and each message getting more desperate than the last. When I arrived home I called UPS. They had tried 3 times to deliver the boxes. They had sent them back to Mass on Thursday. Now I ask you... when did UPS get so efficient? Six days?....Really? I just got a box of business cards that took 21 days to get here from Miami. Go figure. Anything else that might prove that I was on those cruises would be in those boxes too. So there goes that!

When booking my up coming cruise this past month, I did ask the rep at CCL about the Loyalty program and she said they were soliciting feed backs from people but no decision has been made.
This is still posted on my profile on CCL.
Quote:
At Carnival, it is a pleasure to welcome you aboard again, and again. In fact -- starting with your second Carnival sailing -- you will become a Gold Member of our Past Guest Recognition program. With only your tenth sailing -- you'll qualify for the benefits of a Platinum member. And with Carnival's new Milestone program, you'll receive shipboard credit representing 25, 50, 75 and even 100% of your 25th, 50th, 75th and 100th sailing respectively. It's our way of saying "It's good to see you again."
The cruise we are taking in Feb will be our 9th cruise with CCL.
Here's an interesting question (and I probably already know the answer, but what the heck) -
Will the number of days for a cruise equal the scheduled days or the actual days?
When we sailed on the Smokefree Paradise during its last Caribbean cruise before moving to LA, we got an eighth day due to Hurricane Francis.
Shouldn't I get credit for that day?
Right now, I have eight seven day cruises (56 days), one four day cruise and one fourteen day cruise for a total of ten cruises (74 days). If I get credit for the eighth day, I get to 75 days and make platinum no matter what (grandfathering notwithstanding).

Laura:
I would try again. We had 8 added from the 1980's with just Embarkation pictures.
One was added with just a Kodak picture of hubby in front of the ship.
I got 7 added for my brother in law from the 80's. Got them added in TWO days before he sailed. I don't know if it helps, but we use a PVP..so if you use one as well....get them involved....even if they did not book the original cruises.
Getting old cruises added:
We will be happy to enter these older sailings into the system manually and update your cruise history but we will need to verify your past sailings with Carnival Cruise Lines.

lhp, All those things are in the boxes that were sent back to Mass by UPS when I was not home. There is no possible way to get them here now. My friend said she would send them again sooner or later. I have one Embarkation photo here but not for either of those cruises. It is for a cruise that has already been counted.

I do not see what cabin you have should matter what level you are at. The number of cruises/days on a cruise should be how things are decided. Just because you can afford a balcony or a suite should have no bearing on your ranking IMHO.

According to several polls I have seen on a number of other Cruise web sites the general opinion is that Carnival is near the bottom of the barrel as to what they offer to Loyal Cruisers. One thing I would like to see is that the cruises on Carnival owned cruise lines, such as Princess, count on Loyalty points for Carnival.

I would agree that in comparison with other cruise lines, Carnival perks are not the most.
However, other cruise lines cost more as well.
I believe that Carnival's Platinum level "perks" are in line with the price of a Carnival cruise (especially under the old system where 10 3 day cruises get you to Platinum).
We will see how things change in the future...

I respect your opinion but isn't this system about coming back to CCL and spending money? Why should a person receive Platinum level the same time when maybe they have taken 8 x 3or 4 days cruises on the lowest catagory and someone else takes 8 x 7-10 days cruise and purchased a balcony or suite. Who spent the most money with that cruise line? The cruise companies are no different than other business, they want to reward to people that spend money, not to say that other person doesn't contribute.
They could come out with a point system, and reward people that spend the extra money or take longer cruises.
Exam:
Points for number of sailing days.
Bonus points for upgrades, i.e. Balcony or suites.
Have worked in many casino's and the people would get the extra perks are the ones that spend the money. The casinos are now tracking your play to reward with perks.
I took oldest son (who had 24 cruises) on a 4 day cruise a couple of weeks after my October post....
so now he had the WHITE CARD!!! woo hoo!!
