Perfectly normal..we all feel the same way...also, the hump day of your cruise, can get the emoptions going too...Best way to avoid this is to book a new one onboard. I was on the Magic in the med in the spring...I loved every minute!

The Magic is a great ship, and we enjoyed it as much as we could in Europe, with less ship time than I am used to. I want to sail her in the Carib too.
Cucina del Capitano is not to be missed. Such a good value for an alternative dining venue. Singing waiters to boot too! Try the arancini[rice balls] I dream of them still
The Red Frog Pub is a nice take in...we also dined in the Steakhouse and that was delish. Cherry on Top was a fun place to indulge. The food was wonderful as were the deserts!
If you have the guts to go down the pool slide..go for it..the pool areas are great! Ours was the innaugural sailing and we met John finally, and Heidi and his baby girl..What a nice family!
I envy you your upcoming journey. My screensaver now, is a picture of Taormina in Sicily, a place I will remember forever. If you go to the Gallery, you can see many pcctures of the ship and my travels...The Magic moved into my heart, and has stayed there Corny? You betcha!

I get a little depressed when we get back home and there's no towel animal waiting on our bed. And when we walk into the dining room and realize there won't be a buffet unless we go to the grocery store, then it's time to start planning our next cruise. Funny how you can get spoiled like that.
The time I get a little bummed is the last full day when the packing starts. On the last morning I'm ready to head home. I think it's a mental defense mechanism and I concentrate on going home and not on what I won't have once I get there.
Take care,
Mike

I know I have sometimes seen a general change in attitude of the passengers on the last day. Not so many smiles, and, a bit of angst with maybe long lines at Guest Services, & shlepping the dreaded carry ons again....You mean it's really over, and, I have to go home????? wahhhhh!
Let's all think.... STOWAWAY!

I know there have been many times that about half way through the cruise I've wanted to go down and see what it would cost to stay on for the next cruise.
I did it once on Dawn Princess and the price to stay in our cabin, for the next 10 day cruise, would have been double what we had paid. We went home.
Take care,
Mike

Once, on a HAL cruise, they announced that we could book the following week for $300 and stay in our existing cabins. Apparently, a drydock schedule got messed up and it is hard to find parking for a week for a cruise ship.
Sadly, we could not make arrangements re. work, pet sitters, etc. But, yeah, we get sad the last day. The only time that did not happen was a 16 day cruise where I caught the cold from hell. I was totally ready to be back in my own bed, rather than having to cover my face and still try to be sociable if I decided to leave the cabin.

My daughter was married within a month of 9-11. He brother and wife, and, some other couples all went on the honeymoon cruise. During the week, they offered the passsengers an astonishing price, to sty onboard and cruise again.
The logistics of trying to do this, is tough. I bet retirerees & Florida, locals had an easier time deciding to take the offer.

Time to be sad for us is when doing the last minute packing, but then on the morning of departure, the smiling faces sometimes turn less smiley (both passengers and crew), people get pushy and less tolerant and when it gets to that point, I actually am glad to be heading back home !

Getting home from the Magic in Barcelona, was fraught with a variety of issues for us. I would have gladly stayed onboard, and gotten off a few days later, with perhaps less stress

Thanks for the info, Trip. My screen saver is a pic of the Magic during her sea trials! She looks beautiful.
Oh depressed, knowing it's back to reality. That goes for any kind of vacation. I wonder if there is a long enough cruise that a person wouldn't get depressed when it's time to leave?

For me - anything longer than 2 weeks But I don't get depressed on disembarkation either. Post holiday blues - I think everyone gets those but depression ?
I do believe that you can have too much of a good thing.
I just look forward to my planning my next trips.
I booked a last minute cruise and leave in 2 weeks but I am busy planning next year's trips - health permitting. The packing can wait.
I ALWAYS get post cruise "depression". Just like you, I start to feel down on the last day. I agree that the entire atmosphere of the ship changes. I try to remind myself that we are still on a cruise for an entire day, but I just can't get past knowing that we have to pack up and leave the next morning. As for the post cruise blues...they usually last a week or so. I just know it's part of it but sooo worth it!!!
