Will be here in January 2012, can't wait. Been 2 years since last cruise and am so excited. Anyway, I am very confused when I read about this excursion on Carnivals website. It says $29 per adult, but then I read it says, "one ticket covers 2 adults". If someone has done this excusion, can to tell me if I need to buy one ticket, or two tickets for my wife and I. I like to book the excursions before getting on the ship to avoid the line at the tour desk. I understand I can just walk over to the beach but doing this package would gurantee me a clam-shell and 2 chairs?
This is not really an excursion, but it is the only way to get good beach access at Mahogany Bay. Okay, I am being cynical here, but beware of jelly fish. This is probably the least appealing beach to me. Very hot, and sometimes the jelly fish are too numerous to even put your toe in the water. I would recommend that you plan another beach day at a different port, either instead of or in addtion to this one. In January, you probably are really looking forward to that!
I hope that you have a great trip.
Marty
I loved Mahogany Bay. It's clean, safe, and attractive. We rode the chair lift but did not visit the beach. Walking is just as fast as the lift. The beach looked nice. I've heard it described as "man-made" but I think "well groomed" is just as appropriate.

If I were you, I would walk off the ship and a take ground transportation to West Bay Beach. Much bigger, nicer and less crowded beach and you get to see some of the island in your trip to and from. It will be just under 30 minutes each way.
