On our upcoming cruise we are usually lucky enough to hit Duty free flying out of Canada, and I can purchase a couple cartons of my brand of cirarettes for our cruise. We are doing our flights a little differently this time and not sure if we will even have time to hit the duty free store.
My question is if you buy cigarettes in the duty free store on the ship can you immediately take them with you, or, is this delivered to your stateroom on the last night of your cruise like alcohol?
If I can't get my preferred cigarettes on the way down, and this is my worse case scenerio, hopefully I can buy and take them with me right away on the ship. If that's what happens the next thing I need to figure out is what american cigarette is somewhat similar to Export "A" Ultra Smooth (Canadian)
Little help? No anti-smoking rants please.
Thanx,
Krunch

Cigarette Purchases ARE NOT HELD till the last night like alcohol is and can be taken with you at the time of purchase from the gift shop.
I haven't sailed on Carnival for a couple of years now. But the last couple of cruises I've been on (one was Princess, a division of Carnival Corp), oddly they did not allow cigarette purchases from the duty free shop to be taken to the cabin. They were available by the package in the various lounges, but not by the carton other than for delivery the last night of the cruise... like liquor.
I wasn't buying, but a cruisemates told me about the policy. I couldn't believe it, so I checked in the shop. NUTTY but true.
Just got off the Dream and I bought two cartons and it was a lot cheaper than I can by in California. I paid $57.00 for 2 cartons, ( 20 packs ) that is $2.85 per pack when in Ca, I pay anywhere from $5.85 - $6.15 per pack. Lucky, that had my brand.
On average a pack of 25's is a little over $15.00 here (X8 packs per carton). Duty free Canadian is about 1/2 that, which is still more than your "regular" price and our dollar is par yours right now.

So were you able to bring the cigs back to your stateroom immediately, or were they held till last night ?
