Victoria, BC, Canada - things to do?

My family and I will be taking a Carnival cruise to Alaska in May and one of the stops is in Victoria however it won't be getting there till about 7:30pm and leaving at midnight. For anyone who has been, what is there to do around that time? We were originally looking into kayaking until we saw what time we would be there. We are looking for something exciting rather than just take a city tour.

Any suggestions?

Darn shame you get such little time in this amazing town. Victoria is awesome! Buchart Gardens would be the place to go if the time was better.

The Buchart Gardens are beautiful . However ,other suggestions are Government House and a walk along the water .

Best bet, is to see what is offered by the cruiseline and go from there. I did a whale watching tour that was pretty amazing. The guides seem to know these whales, and they have names, seems the same pods return year after year..

I looked into the gardens, looks absolutely stunning. However the place closes at 5 pm so unfortunately we won't be able to go.

I agree it is a shame that we will be there so late! I've heard nothing but great things about Victoria.

Within walking distance of the pier there is a neat wharf area that has great fish places to eat. There are many houseboats permenently moored. You can follow the walkways over to the Empress Hotel along the ocean.
