Accommodations close to Port in New York

Can someone suggest a hotel close to the port in New York? This will be my first time sailing from this port.

The Marriott at Time Square is a great, though pricey, place to stay pre-cruise, and a short taxi ride to the pier.

Across the street from the Marriott is the Crowne Plaza.
