Grand Lucayan Radisson...here is a blurb below...call and see if they have a day pass available.....this is your best option, in this port, I feel. I was there years ago,and wish I had. You could also just get off the ship for a bit,and come back, for a quiet day onboard.

Grand Lucayan Radisson Resort is located on a seven-acre beachfront complex, approximately six miles from Freeport Airport, and across the road from Port Lucaya marketplace. Plenty of restaurant choices, swimming pools, 2 Golf Course, Grand-SlamTennis Courts, a Spa & Fitness Center and even a Las Vegas style casino

Are you taking the Carnival Fascination from Jacksonville, or Monarch of the Seas from Port Canaveral? Both ships only go to the Bahamas all year so I am considering one of them to be my first cruise.

Can you get to a beach easily from the ports? Are taxis easy to get? On the Pride in August, can't wait! Passed the ship in Baltimore yesterday...so jealous, wanted to just go then!

I highly recommend a day pass for $25 at the Cable Beach Sheratan/Wyndham in Nassau. $25, gets you the run of both resorts. Great beach plus nice pools, hot tubs, water slides, swim up pool bar, etc. You can ride the jitney(bus) there and back for $1.25 each way.

In Freeport, I recommend renting a car and going to Gold Rock Beach. it is the most beautiful beach you will ever see. There is a supermarket along the way. Stop & get stuff for a picnic lunch. Try to be there at low tide when it is the most beautiful. Never take a taxi there because some cruisers have reported that the taxi never came back for them and the almost missed the ship.

Thanks for the info! I've thought about going there and this sure makes my decision much easier.

Gold Rock beach looks like heaven!

Question Dolphin Cay excursion

I need to know if there is a way to do the shallow water dolphin interaction excursion at Dolphin Cay for less than $170. Paying that much for only three hours is ridiculous and the one at Blue Lagoon apparently is not as good, from what I can tell. I can't book DC, which includes the beach and Ruins Lagoon, through Atlantis online before my cruise. I looked for an independent tour company that sells it, but only the Blue Lagoon one has the option of booking independent of the cruise line, unless I am missing something. If I thought the BL dolphin encounter was as good as the one at DC and had more time for it (four hours is too long), I would book that one because it is cheaper. But who likes to carry a towel everywhere and have no locker for her backpack when she is inthe water?
