Half Moon Cay??

We are sailing on the Liberty in June, one stop is Half Moon Cay. I have read a lot of good things about it. My question is, is it strickly a beach getaway or can you walk around and explore abit? Don't get me wrong..I can sit & chill with the best of them!! LOL. Just wondering. Thanks, Daphne

KC, basically, HMC, is a slice of paradise, with not much to do but, relax. I do believe there is a tad bit of shopping as you enter the area. You can explore, but, basically, the topography is flat.

If you sit by the orange cabana, you will be close to the food pavillion, and rest rooms. Enjoyy our day at the beach.

Thanks, Trip!! Sounds good to me!!

Its a great beach with a beautiful, warm ocean to swim in. Only drawback is all the time wasted getting there and especially getting back on board the ship. The line for the return late in the afternoon is long and slow. Also getting back on the ship is a very long and tedious process. Remember each person has to go thru a line and have his sign and sail card scaned. I would say it took us 1 1/2 hours to return to the ship from the beach. Worth it, maybe so but next time I will stay on board.

Any port you get off the ship you have to have your card scanned. I hope that wouldn’t keep one from getting off the ship.

One cruise we stayed onboard at HMC,simply beacuse the weather was extremely hot & oppresive..We figured it was easier to find shade and be cooler onboard..Many must have figured the same, because people arrived back from the beach, because of the heat, to be more comfy by the pool.

The long returm time, was probably do the time frame you left, &everbody else wasleaving too. That was not the case for us. I have not had that wait time when, we decided to go back to the ship. It just varies.

We plan on getting off at every port. Time is all we have on a cruise!!:D Can u come & go, or is it a one time tender off the ship & back on?

The last time I was at HMC, the water was too cold to enjoy. I took a nice hike around the island instead. There are all kinds of trails to explore. There is a horse trail all the way at the end of the beach which goes up on a hill and offers a nice scenic view of the beach & ship in the background. You can also follow another trail to the HMC Airport. :p

It is by far one of the most beautiful ports I have been to. The beach is incredible. You can do excursions on it. There are just a few shops on there. You pay for everything on the island with your sail and sign card. There is no cash needed. The food is free. They have there staff come to a huge kitchen and prepare your lunch for you. There is a great tiki bar there also. I personally rented some snorkle gear for 18.00 a day and saw some spectacular fish. No need for excursion. I loved it.
