If I take a cruise this year it will be three days from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and back. It can't be longer than that because of my mom's job and financial situation. That means I might do something I always thought I will never do: sail on a Carnival ship and to the Bahamas.
So now I want to know what passengers think of the food, activities, entertainment, and customer service onboard; if magnetic signs on cabin doors are allowed; when the best time to go is if you don't have kids; and the age demographics during fall cruises.
If you have been to Nassau on any ship, is there anything to do away from the beaches and waterfront shops? There better be something else because it is an overnight stay if I take that cruise.
When school is in session I think you'll find the demographic mostly people doing an inexpensive get-a-way like yourself. It has been my experience that the shorter cruises do attract a larger percentage of revelers. The magnetic signs are fine for the cabin door. The Casino is open late at Atlantis.
The 3 nighters are Thursday to Sunday. Might have college aged kids on it. That does not mean drunken brawls. What happens on those cruises is random, depending who's on board.
As for Nassau, I booked a Segway tour and it was great. I don't always get off the ship except to browze the city or the straw market. Of course if you so much as slow down your pace, or God forbid, look at something...The great sell is ON! I've noted some items are having prices increased, some vendors will dicker with you, others not. If the price doesn't suit you, move on.
The Sensation is clean and well maintained. The size of the ship makes it very easy to get around. The Serenity area was never crowded. The crew was very friendly and accommodating. We attended the show in the main lounge and it was very enjoyable. The food (especially the carving station on the Lido deck) was great...loved the whole roasted turkey, ham, and roast beef, and the mashed potatos and mac & cheese were delicious. We ate all three nights in the main dining room and had great service and good food. They had a great band playing near the casino bar on Motown night, loved the female singer and band. They got everyone up on the dance floor. If you like the casino and you are not a smoker, the smoke is so dense we could only stay for short periods of time.
We always sail in May (to avoid spring break crowds) or November (to avoid large numbers of children)...the weather is also phenomenal. The age demographic on our November cruises has been ages from the 30's and older (this has just been our experience). Don't hate children but prefer cruising when their numbers are diminished by school attendance.
We sailed into Nassau on Friday around Noon, had lunch on the ship, then got off and took a taxi to Atlantis for a little smoke free gambling in their casino. Upon our return, we did a little souvenir shopping near the Port then got back on the ship mid afternoon so we could get ready for elegant dress night and lobster.
Saturday was a full day at sea and lots of activities onboard. We just relaxed. We thought about getting off the ship after dinner but we've been there before and decided to just stay onboard.
It was a great three day cruise and I plan on sailing on the Sensation again.
It is official now: I got the confirmation email with my cabin number (M130) from my TA. That means Sunday, March 4 is the real start of my cruise countdown. I am looking forward to it. Waiting almost eight months sucks.
Hi, I did the Sensation last year and loved it. I had a group on it called "Girls Just Wana Have Fun" It was intended as a girls getaway but 2 men signed up. We really had a great time.
Sensation is a colorful, cheerful ship. Clean and well maintained. I think you will enjoy this ship. Have a great time.

Waiting is a bugger, then board the ship, blink an eye, and it's over.
