safe in cabin

Leaving on Liberty Saturday and was wondering about the safe in the cabin. Is it Combo or swipe a card? On carnival website said something about using card with magnetic strop on it.

Magnetic strip card. Bring an old library card, Costco card or other card with a magnetic stripe. On my last cruise I used a Verizon, Visa rebate card that had been used up.

I personally prefer the combination locks.

Basically...........................yes.

It is the main reason I like the combination safe over the magnetic stripe safes.

You could stick the card in some "super secret" location in the cabin. This would be more convenient but less secure.

IMO: If the cabin steward really wanted to get in the safe they could. If while the steward was cleaning, someone passed by the open cabin door they wouldn't have enough time to ransack your cabin, find the card, try it in the safe and pillage the safe before the cabin steward came back into the room. So don't put the card on top of the safe.

Dont use your sign & sail card on the safe!
Also, if the ship is upgraded to the new power saving stuff, you need a "card" to keep the lights on in the cabin.
