Default question for those who fly a lot please

I am about to book a cruise on Carnival Breeze out of miami - coming from Louisiana. The flights arn't out yet for this time yet - but won't be long. I usually book ASAP the flights so as to get the flight with the closest times that are within the schedule. My question --- is there any time of the week/year that is better to book than others that save $$? Should I wait to book a flight closer to the sail date or book ASAP to get the flight of choice? Any suggestions? Thanks
