VIFP question....

first post on new board - woo hoo - thanks in advance for answers....

we have friends that will be sailing with us in October. they currently have approximately 23 days at sea(Red VIFP). With the 7 day they have booked in October that will put them over and into the Gold VIFP. Will they be allowed to attend the :

Gold, Platinum and Diamond VIFP Party
on 5+ day sailings
(featuring complimentary drinks and appetizers)

of course on their last cruise they did attend the past guest party and feel that a 'perk' is being taken from them. they were a little bummed to hear they may not be able to attend.

the only thing i can find is that in the terms and conditions:

Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event a Member books a Cruise in which such Member will attain the necessary VIFP Points to reach a new Level during or by the end of such Cruise (a “Crossover Cruise”), CCL may, in its sole discretion, offer such Member the Benefits offered to Members of the higher Level during the Crossover Cruise.

does this mean that carnival will most likely not give them access to the past guest party(formerly known as). what is this sole discretion? what should they do to convince

let me know your thoughts
alex

Carnival in the beginning of this new program will try and enforce this new rule ,after a few months it should be back to the norm.

My understanding is that Carnival will "graduate" your friends into the Gold level at the beginning of their cruise. If by chance they are given a red card at embarkation I would have them go to Guest Services on the ship (where the cards are actually printed), explain that they will become Gold during the cruise and asked to have their cards changed and to be included in all of the events that their new status entitles them to.

We are going on our 10th Carnival cruise next month. As they said, they are awarding it on the one in which you achieve it. All of our documents, including luggage tags say Platinum and/or VIP!!!!!

Hiya Chuck.......Congrats on your 10th cruise. I thought you and Carol were already Platinum....:confused:....enjoy the perks. I think VIP embarkation is my most favorite one.

Edit to Add: and enjoy the Magic....she is our new favorite ship.....you won't find me so much at the Casino bar anymore.....but I have a permanent place in the Red Frog.......have some Pidgeon Pea's.....they are a great warm salty free snack and go perfectly with a Thirsty Frog Red.....

In fact there is a lot to do along the Ocean Plaza during the day, you can even get a hot buffet style breakfast there in the morning. And the wraps and custom made salads at lunch are a great alternative to the crowded Lido.

I plan on spending a lot of time at the Red Frog!

Chuck try the Conch Salad. It is actually Conch Cerveche. I discovered that grabbing some Chips at lunch time from the Burrito Bar works great and they go quite well with the Cerviche!
