I am a 5 time cruiser and have been to the western and easter carribean on all my cruises. I love waking up, looking out and seeing the white sand, lush trees, crystal blue water.
With that said my next cruise I am thinking about the Mexican Riviera which appears to stop in Cabo San Lucas on the way down and back, and also stopping in Puerto Vallarta. Based on what I mentioned above, for those that have done the Riviera cruise, would I be disappointed (what I want to see) or should I give this cruise a try?
I have done the Mexican Rivera a few times and loved it. The only problem now is the drug cartels. Matazalan has been left out of the itineary for that reason.
I loved the Mexican Riviera cruise that we took a few years ago.
I trust that the cruiselines know where it is safe to go.

We enjoyed our Mexican Riviera cruise. In PV we took a sailboat over to a remote beach - didn't give the cartels a chance to get us

If during whale season (I think around December to Mar) it can be amazing. It can be cool during the winter. The scenery can be different, as can the wildlife, but there are both scenery and wildlife.

Thanks for all your input,

We have only done this cruise once and it was back when it was safe to go to Mazatlan.
We had a great time, but it was "different" in the fact that the first day out and the last day back was cooler than the Caribbean cruises we have done. We sailed in July.
The sand in Cabo was not the soft sands that we were used to.
(at least where we went)
The water in Cabo was beautiful. Hubby and oldest son did the zipline through an independent tour operator in PV...which was a blast.
but our favorite excursion was riding horses in Mazatlan and of course, they no longer go there....
Randi's horses over to Stone Island was so cool. Not commercial...lots of fun. Sad to see that is gone....

We do the Mexican Rivera often because we live in San Diego and ships go out of here and also LA which is only an hour and a half away so no air travel needed. We love Cabo, nice places to eat and the sand is beautiful.
We have been going down to Mexico for over 20 years since we have a time share there and have never had a problem.
