Tortola, BVI

We are planning a cruise to Eastern Caribbean in January. Never been to the ports there. Tortola looks so tiny. Anyone been there and have ideas what to do there?

A number of people like to go from there to Virgin Gorda (a different island) and see The Baths.

Or maybe go snorkeling at the Caves or Indians near Norman Island.

On Tortola itself there are a number of beaches and bars and, of course, Pusser's Rum!

I've never been there but a former co-worker and her husband were there about 20 times .They loved the serenity .

We have been there once and just walked about the port.....

we are going back in January and this time we have booked the Carnival excursion to Jost Van Dyke to go to Soggy Dollar Bar....

We were there back in 2007 aboard the Carnival Liberty. We took the whole island tour. Tortola has a lot of hills. You can get a lot of good photos there. You can see all the different Islands from atop of some of the hills. This Island is ok. If you get a chance, go to "Pusser's Landing". It is a nice place to have some "Adult Beverages and a good meal". There is a small harbor there. The shopping was good too. I'll include some photos.

What cruise are you taking? We are looking at the Jan.12th cruise on Dream out of Canaveral,

We did a sailing tour on White Squall II. They were wonderful! Would highly recommend them. Or another sailing excursion. It's a great area for that.

We will be headed there in just over 2 weeks! We are using bvi360.com to take a ferry to Jost Van Dyke - cheaper than Carnival and a longer trip.

Most people take the Ferry to Virgin Gorda to go to the Baths though.

On actual Tortola, the popular beach is Cane Garden Bay.

Tortola is a tiny island of beauty. We did an island tour, but, this is an island perfect for beach lovers. Not alot to do, and shopping is minimal. On the top of the mountain, with a glorious view, you can enjoy a panorama filled with several islands. Bring singles, because, unless things have changed, they charge for the restoom

It's been several years since I visited Tortolla. We took a bit of a trek to Cane Bay Beach, and enjoyed an excellent beach day.
