We are interested in sailing on the Splendor out of New York on April 8th. We have some concerns with the weather. I am wondering how far we have to sail south before we get to warm weather. Has anyone out there every left NY that early in the year?
Thinking as you sail past Carolina's a warmup might begin, and past Florida getting better, but, out at sea, at that time of year, you better layer. Don't think you will see anybody by the pool.

Also, keep in mind that the Splendor of the Seas is relatively small (we've been on it twice and have spent a total of 50 days on the Vision-class ships) and sometimes the Atlantic can be a bit unforgiving. So don't be surprised if you enjoy some rocking and rolling.
But I always love sailing out of New York - totally cool cruising by the Statue of Liberty. Just too bad that Bayonne is not closer to it.

It will be chilly the first day out and the last day back. The Carnival Splendor's mid ship pool has a sliding glass dome, which will be closed, so it will be in use.

Another option is the Carnival Miracle - smaller but less crowded.
Nut I agree that it won't start to feel warm until you get to Port Canaveral (my guess) - It will be cold the first day for sure and a little warmer the next day.

Paul, the Splendor is replacing the Miracle on the New York itineraries in March. The Miracle is heading to the west coast to replace the Spirit, which is now in Austrailia.
