Itinerary change for Sensation 11-25

I just received notice that the itinerary has changed for our Bahamas cruise 11-25. Instead of arriving in Nassau at 8:00 am and leaving at 5:00 pm we are now scheduled to arrive at 7:00 am and won't depart till the following morning at 1:00 am. This was great news for me as now I have time to schedule some diving.
My question: I have been on several cruises but I have never been on one that had the port times streched out like this; before booking my afternoon dives with Stuart Cove, is there a chance that they revert back to the original time? We called our vacation planner at Carnival to confirm that the email was legit and he indicated that it was and the additional time was added because we only had two stops; is this the new normal?

To be honest, the last couple of years I haven't paid that much attention to these itineraries.

However, when Nassau is the final port stop of a cruise, it used to be very common for ships to overnight there. From there it's a very short haul to get back to Florida.

Again, I don't know if it's true today, but in the past ship's staying late or overnighting in Nassau also were allowed to keep their casinos open in the evenings in port... basically to encourage them to stay longer.

I was on Sensation about 2 years ago and the ship was there overnight and scheduled to leave at 7:00 AM. We were told to be back aboard by 5:00 AM. I was up very early having coffee. At 5:00 I felt the ship moving. We were leaving 2 hours ahead of schedule.

Do you suppose they would have departed 2 hours early if they knew they had passengers off the ship? Of couse I won't be that late; if I rolled in at 5:00 am after an afternoon dive I'd have some splainin' to do! I should be back at the ship by 6; only an hour later that she was scheduled to leave originally. It's hard to believe that Carnival doesn't offer diving in Nassau anymore.
