Help! Advice needed for the casino on carnival victory!!

Hi!

I'm joining the carnival victory in 3 weeks to work as a cashier in the casino. I have no idea what to expect!! I'm nervous and excited but I have lots of unanswered questions.

If anyone can answer these I would really appreciate it!

Cashiers get tips, or just dealers?
Share a cabin? If so, same sex?
What will be a "Typical day" for me?
Am I allowed in the guest areas?
What if I want to leave before the end of my contract?
I know it's going to be long shifts, longer than I've ever worked, but read a few horror stories and I'm worried that I won't get hardly any sleep! Is this true?

Any help will be very much appreciated! Also if anyone can add anything, tips, advice that would be awesome.

Why don't you contact your employer for this information? I'm pretty sure they will answer your questions. There are a few people on this board who were employed by one cruise line or another but that has been a while. You should read over your contract to see if there is any information in there.

I could do that, your right. But was hoping to get a response that was realistic and not "sugar-coated" which I think is what my employer would give me!
So just gunna hope that someone one on here will know and get back to me before I leave!

I have heard that the staff on cruiselines do work a lot of hours. There may be some down-time in between shifts. I think you will just have to manage any "free" time the best you can. I know staff can sometimes actually get off the ship for some periods of time, they usually shop and make phone calls, etc.
