Can a person take a smaller size mobility travel scooter for use on a cruise ship?

I still need to get knee replacements but have to wait one yr. Using a smaller Pride mobility scooter for longer walking distances. Does anyone know if I can use & take this scooter on board a Carnival cruise ship? I would love to book another short vacation cruise but afraid to do so because I would need to use this scooter on land at port and maybe to get around different places on the ship that are to difficult to walk to for me.

I am sure you can take your small scooter with you, shouldn't be a problem, just traveling with it. I believe they rent them onboard as well.

I have seen all sizes of scooters on ships. That should be no problem.

Yes you can but it must fit through the cabin door and be stored inside the cabin. Scooters cannot be left in the hallway.

I've seen many power scooters left near elevator landing areas. Of course, to do so one would have to be able to walk the hallways to their cabin.

You'll have no problem taking your scooter with you. In fact, if it makes it easier for you, you can rent one and have it waiting for you in your cabin.

Obviously, you'll want to get a handicap accessible cabin - same price, but larger, so it affords you space to maneuver in the cabin. Plus, the bathroom will be more suitable for you.

We rent scooters for our mother which are delivered to the ship. They do not fit through the cabin door and are left in the hallway. The motor can be locked so no one can move it. Never had a problem.

Carnival does not rent scooters. They have to be ordered from an outside company.

You should contact Carnival's Special Needs Department with this question.

I'm glad that your mother has been able to do this but it is not within the cruise lines rules. Scooters left in the hallway block the corridor and can be a danger to others in the event of an evacuation.

Here is Carnival's official policy.

Mobility Scooters: Passenger scooters must be stored and batteries recharged in your stateroom. Due to safety considerations, wheelchairs and scooters cannot be stored in the corridors. Furthermore, the Guest Services office cannot store personal scooters, nor be used to recharge batteries. Your personal scooter should be able to fit in a standard stateroom with a 21" entry doorway. If your scooter is larger than 21", you must purchase a modified stateroom or rent a smaller scooter. Segways and other similar vehicles are not permitted on board our vessels.
