Live and Almost Live from Carnival Conquest 2.0, Nov 25-Dec 2, 2012

Uploading pictures from Roatan now (maybe). Pictures through the first two sea days are posted. Many more to come.

Guy's burgers are excellent and the fries are incredible!

I love the pictures.

zydecocruiser December 5th, 2012 01:51 PM

Thank you. I will still be updating and improving for a while. Stay tuned!

flowers December 5th, 2012 04:37 PM

I forgot my camera. No pictures to upload. ooops.

I too LOVED the new burgers and the french fries were perfect. More than perfect. Real potatoes cooked perfectly.

I liked the new thin pizza too, because it was never cold and always crisp. I had been served the old pizza once too often soggy and cold. This pizza is smaller and only 4 pieces and cooks so fast that they could always cook some up fresh and piping hot.

I wasnt so keen on the Mexican and the tasting bar. Went to the tasting bar the first two nights and tried the mexican for lunch once and once at breakfast. I like old fashioned crispy beef tacos.

I got one good thing to add I never knew about. For $15 there is a 2 hour martini class two women at my table went to. They said they got 2 or 3 full pours of each of 3 martinis and the history and lots of good information, and lots of receipes .. and both were happy and smiling afterwards and showing their diplomas. Only 10 to a class and its not advertised.

Bill ... waiting4acruise with a g is a genius with trivia, especially sports trivia. I thought I was kinda smart.. but he is incredible at trivia and almost always wins. .. you know the kind of questions.. in 1956 what team changed uniforms or towns ..way back when.

He must study the stuff, no one could know this stuff off the top of their head (he and I teamed up a few nights :D ). Terry is a trivia genius. His wife is the person I had invited along on this particular Carnival Conquest cruise .. but she decided too much going on .. and she had done Conquest like 8 times before. His wife is a lot of fun. If you are on a cruise with him... be sure and get on his trivia team, not against him

Bring on the pictures .... sorry I have none to add. But I know you take such good pictures yours will be super. I thought overall it was a great cruise, except for coming home with the flu.

I'd forgotten about the generators going out those two days until I read your account. Two older ladies at my table walked up from deck 0 all the way to deck 0 Lido deck!!! Inconvenient. The only time it affected me I was already on Lido .. down is easier than up.

Waiting for more

Aerogirl December 5th, 2012 06:49 PM

Your pictures are awesome!!!! Thanks so much for sharing but now I really need to book a cruise

I don't know that all of the elevators were down at the same time - just some. I would have walked up to Deck 1 and checked the others.

I checked all three the first day they went out. All three banks were out.

I didnt check the 2nd day.

I bought the coffee cup at the coffee place on deck 5 I told you about them charging me 15% tip on a empty coffee cup. (I was surprised)

I just now opened it .. and its not too practical. Its skinny to fit in a car cup holder .. but it narrows in the middle and is taller than a regular skinny type cup. My hand wouldnt fit past the place it narrows to hand wash it with soapy water. You would need a very small hand or a brush to wash it.

If anyone else is cruising soon .. its a nice looking insulated cup for $4.95, plus 74 cents tip. Its usually $8.95 when it includes a $3.95 cup of coffee. They have it on sale right now empty, just the cup for $4.95. Not sure it was one of my smarter buys .. but it says Carnival .. one more Carnival thing lol. I always say it looks like I run a onboard store here I have so much stuff from onboard stores.

zydecocruiser December 8th, 2012 11:45 AM

The second time, it was just the forward bank.

We'll see if this works. Improved captions for the first cruise day pictures

What does your girlfriend think of you spending all this time taking pictures. Does she ever get impatient and just say to you ... eat your dinner already??!!

She is used to it. I have gotten used to being quick. If I take too long she stabs the food with a fork and I know I'm done until the next course. :p

You're welcome and thank you. Sorry the idiots on the dark side kept deleting my threads. Their advertising loss will be cruisemates gain.

chasinraynbowz December 10th, 2012 10:28 PM

It's completely idiotic. New mods on a power trip I guess. Thanks again!

New Mods, Old Stalkers, Something. Anyway, I won't waste my time or money trying to do another live from on that site. Ever. Maybe.

But I digress.

You're welcome! Enjoy your cruise!

chasinraynbowz December 11th, 2012 12:03 AM

Thanks!! We will!! 5 days and counting!!!

jdeville71 December 11th, 2012 10:51 AM

Zydeco, I love the food porn and posted menus. Thanks
chasinraynbowz, have a great cruise. Feel free to post pictures and a review.
We cruise on the Conquest March 24 - 31st. We can't wait. It will be our 3rd cruise but our first 7 day. We are cruising with my parents and it is their first cruise. We are all so excited.

flowers December 11th, 2012 11:47 AM

I have conquest booked twice more. I have never cruised past May, never in the summer. Last two times I cruised in May I was like .. it's soooooooooooooo HOT.

I don't know how I will feel in July. Living in TX I get enough hot weather, Im not looking forward to it.

I say I like kids.. so this wouldn't bother me.. but maybe Im wrong? July sounds like primo time for kids and really hot weather. I hope my a/c works well in my cabin.

My first ever summer cruise.... gotta do new things once in a while I tell myself. Maybe it will not be so bad. None of the other dates offered worked for me, I already had cruises scheduled. If anyone has cruised in the summer and can tell me it wouldn't be so bad .. please.. I'm all ears.

You got the 4 letter word right - kids.

New Orleans will be steamy, but temperatures in the Caribbean are going to vary that much. Climbing ruins will take an extra effort and water.

It was a little extra effort, but one time I took an insulated hydration pack (maybe 2 liters?), filled it with ice on Lido and then water, and had ice cold water all day long on one ruin climbing adventure.

Our first cruise was the end of July. It was hot and humid on the Conquest.

Thanks so much!!!! This is my 7th cruise and I am just as excited as if it were my first one! I will be sure to take lots of pictures (not as good as zydeco's, but good enough :-P ) and will do my best to do a review. We get back on the 23rd and my Mom will be here from Colorado and the kids will be coming over, along with my grandkids... so it may take a few weeks for me to get it done!!

Oh heck, eat, drink and be merry. It took me a long time to train myself to take pictures of food before I devoured it. Now it is almost automatic. Practice makes perfect (I am told).

Meanwhile back at the ranch, no new pictures, but finally another day of captions added:

I have noticed that while the temps don't vary much, it is the humidity that is very high in the summer months, that is the killer.
