Bring a credit card to register with the ship when you check in - almost ALL of your charges will be tabulated automatically during the cruise - the only cash you need is for possibly in the casino or on shore.

How much will it cost you? About $11/day per guest in gratuities, plus any special dining you may choose to pay for, souvenirs, transportation, etc.

In terms of cash I go on cruises where I use almost no cash at all, but it is good to have $100 in cash just in case you want a souvenir or to take a txi someplace.

On your charge account you may get a massage for about $120, order soda ($3.00 or so), maybe a specialty coffee (about $3.50) & things like that (but those things go on your onboard charge account, not cash).

Do you plan on shopping? Thats where most of my money goes. Having all sorts of things there together to choose from, I almost always find things to bring home? A little piece of jewelry, some knock off hangbags. I bring $50 or so, mostly in ones for tips and haggling in the ports.

I cant think of any Carnival ships that do 5 day cruises that have any pay option restaurants, so I dont think you need to budget for this. There is always free food available, but if you have a sweet tooth, rarely candy unless you bring some from home. Are you the type that a piece of cake will do?

Iced tea and lemonaide and coffee etc are free, but there will be speciality coffee and speciality ice cream some will buy. I do the free.

I would bring a few hundred for emergencies ... like seeing something want to buy. I never use credit cards in the ports.

How about internet access. Its very expensive on the ship, but cheap in the ports for cash.

Unless you REALLY like to spend loads of money on souvineers, etc., I can't imagine spending anywhere near $700 or $800 during a five day cruise. Granted, I've cruised a LOT, and seldom leave the ship anymore, but other than tips and a few drinks, I don't know what you'd spend lots of money on, especially if your tours, etc., are already paid for. Yes, I agree that you should have some cash for emergencys, but I wouldn't go crazy. Have a GREAT cruise.

I agree with Sky, 700-800 is a lot! Since you are not drinkers, and your excursions are paid. your tips, photos, [which are very $$],and assorted onboard charges would make up the bulk of your statement.

If by chance you are planning on buying any electronics, or jewelry, use a credit card, for the protection it could give you if you have an issue, later on. Make sure you alert your credit card company, that you will be out of the country, so they will not red flag your account, when you try to make a purchase.

Small bills for in port, for the airport, tips at the pier, is a good idea.

We generally bring $100 per day and return home with most of that amount.
