Default Roadway Inn Ft. Lauderdale

Sailing on the Carnival Freedom on April 14th from Ft, Lauderdale. Will arrive on the 13th. Thinking of staying at the Rodeway Inn & Suites Airport/Cruise Port 2440 W. State Road 84, Ft Lauderdale, FL. They offer free shuttle from airport and also free shuttle to cruise piers. Have any of you stayed here? Any comments pro or con would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thom

My wife and I and 2 other couples stayed there in December 2010 prior to taking a cruise .

We were supposed to arrive at 2AM .However ,due to weather delays our flight arrived in FT.Lauederdale at 11:30 PM . We called the hotel and they sent a shuttle bus to pick us up. The driver ,James , offered to stop for food but we just wanted to get to the hotel .We were welcomed warmly by the staff and the Manager:Izzy .
The next morning we had a wonderful complimentary full breakfast .

A shuttle bus took us to the cruiseport .

We had a GREAT experience at the Rodeway Inn and we will definitely stay there again .

We also stayed there in 2011 for our cruise. The hotel did offer shuttle to the airport & cruise port. The rooms are clean and very comfortable or at least ours was, it had been renovated recently. The breakfast was nice nothing fancy but the sports bar food was just terrible. If the price is right there's no reason that I can think of not to say there, good location but need a car if you want to go anywhere. The one thing I did notice was Carnival is the last to be shuttled to the cruise port or at least for us that's how it worked.

I stayed next door at the Red Carpet, because I got it on lastminutetravel for $37. I think both hotels are fairly equal, except Rodeway has the free breakfast and Red Carpet you have to pay. I looked into some empty rooms at Rodeway and walked around and checked it out while I was there. I was looking for this spring and found some better deals for Rodeway than for Red Carpet this spring, so look around, booking direct might not be your best bet. There are some good discount sites out there with deals.

Those two hotels are there by themselves. Both have fairly good restaurants. They told me there is a 7-11 about a mile away but it turned out you would have to walk onto the freeway to get to it. So, there is no other food places except these two hotels and nothing else to do if you fly in. That was ok, you can BBQ at the Red Carpet, watch tv and lots of plants, not a bad area at all.

You can walk between these two hotels easily and eat at the restaurants of either property. Red Carpet has good reviews on its restaurant, but the food is more homestyle and Rodeway is more of a bar.

Just dont expect to be within walking distance of anything but these two hotels. Both offer good shuttle service from the airport and to the port.
