Legal Sharks are on the move

I see by today's paper that the lawsuits have started re: The Triumph. I would think the Lawyers were lined up just waiting for the greedy. What a shame.

Quite frankly, it doesn't suprise me, could be big money for them, may-be no so much for the cruiser...Unless there was some injury and or sickness, I can't see these cases netting much....

It's surprising there are not more being filed, given that most are given the 60/40 option from the slip-and-fall lawyers, meaning there are no fees. If they win the law firm gets 40% and you get 60%. It used to be 70/30 but that has changed. Still, the allure of filing a suit and it won't cost you a penny is the banana the lawyers offer the monkeys.

America has indeed become overly litigeous.

However, lawyers working on a contingency fee (based on them winning the case) was/is/can be very helpful to those who have been severly injured, or wronged, who would never have access to the funds required to hire an attorney.

Like most things in life, there are those who find ways to abuse it. But... I'm not certain it would be any better if this option weren't available to those without money.

As far as lawsuits against Carnival, while no doubt there will be some frivilous claims, I do think there are questions that need to be answered by Carnival.

I'm not so sure they should just be let off the hook completely, without total investigation, just because they've suffered the financial consequences of the event already.

Doubt any make it to court.

It can be dangerous suing a cruise company, I know someone who did, lost, was then counter sued and ended up with a judgement against them.

I was also thinking if I sued them, they might ban me from cruising on any Carnival Co ships .. which is a lot of cruises I might be banned from. I could be paranoid .. but with all my cruises I would never risk it unless things were bad beyond the average complaint here.
