Default Which room to book?

Hello All. We are planning on booking a cruise on the Carnival Splendor to the Caribbean for April 10th, 2014. We are trying not to break the bank and need advise. We are looking to book either an oceanview or a balcony and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good one in either category that is both good location wise and won't put us in to bankruptcy...lol Much appreciated.

Welcome to Cruisemates! For many, cruisers, midship is popular, both for the cabin and deck, and I am one of them. We like to stay close to the elevator, as well, to eliminate the long walks.

Let your travel agent, not a cruiseline person, do the legwork for you, to get a comfortable and well priced cabin location..Also check what is above and below your cabin. Aft balconys are wonderful, if the price is right...watching where you've been is a good thing!

Once you are set on a cabin or catagory, you may be able to book a guarantee, if you don't have to have a specific cabin, can save a few bucks too. Something to check into.

Spend the little extra and get the balcony, you won't be sorry however you may be spoiled for life! I think just your standard balcony room would be fine and the price isn't bad, I believe you can get one mid ship, also look at deck plans so you know what's above and below you if your sensitive to noise.
I know everyone is different but I would rather take less cruises and have a balcony than more without but that's just me.
Best of luck!

I tend to lean toward Aerogirl's recommendation but an oceanview is also doable in my books. An inside broom closet just isn't for me. We have done balcony's )(PREFERED) oceanview (DOABLE) and inside (i HOPE NEVER AGAIN).

I did go look at prices they seem a little high but I'm thinking it's because it's Easter week and spring break for thousands. It's all what you want to spend and what your needs are. I would see about the aft rooms although I've never had one it's something I would like to try.

Wink Thanks

Thank you to all who replied. This is hubby and I's second cruise. We did an inside cabin on our first one and I hated not being able to see light in the room when we woke up. It was kind of disorienting...lol
