Pete, I agree with you 100%. My TA always looks for price drops and up-grades and we have gotten some good deals over the years.

I just said in the comment field that the "Rate is currently the same, but a $50 OBC is currently being offered on our cruise" Hopefully this works, and they accept it. If so, our group of 8 rooms will have saved $140, and receive $50 OBC. Essentially $190 per room. SUUUH-WEEEET!

Yes its from the fall sale. I called my TA and they submitted the paperwork for it.

We have a Princess cruise booked for Nov. 2013, paid in full. Last week noticed it dropped $700 per! Dang! Talked to customer service rep on Thur. and had the price refunded $1400. No paperwork.

I do like Princess more than alot of cruise lines when it comes to stuff like this - they're easier to work with.

Just this week, I had a couple who booked a 10-night Alaskan cruisetour and the price went down tremendously. They made their final payment a month ago, yet Princess repriced it for me and they are being given a $2,008 refund!

Most cruise lines would not have done this.

This site has become invaluable to me as I planned my first cruise, only thing I did not pick up on was NOT to pay the balance until due date, in case of price drops, and wouldn't you know, price is now cut by more than half! Have asked my agent to look into it, maybe pay the difference, about $147.00 australian dollars to move to a balcony, from an inside, yes! you read that right! amazing difference, cruise is not until September, so who knows what might be possible?

Dang how much was the cruise to begin with?

Cruise planner same question to you also.

They must have been priced really high in order to go down so much in price.

Knocked off almost 1/2 price. But sometimes that's not unusual for the one-way northbound cruises after all the cruisetours are sold out. Not alot of people want to just purchase the cruise; they normally want a cruisetour when purchasing a one-way cruise. So there remains alot of cabins available and they reduced the price to stimulate sales.

Check your pricing again people!!!

On the last Carnival sale, only returning cruisers got a $50 shipboard credit. Checking rates tonight, our rate has gone down another $30 it appears. What was surprising was that all of our other guests are first time cruisers and it seems that Carnival essentially matched the previous discount and added another $30 to it! Our first time cruisers in balcony rooms just got another $80 off and we have some first timers in an interior room who got $90 more off!

SWEET!

Default Question on Fare Checker

Just out of curiosity, is it only the "Early Saver" rates that can go down or is it all categories? Thanks

Fan77,
No, it doesn't matter if you book with early savers, when the price does go down, you can get OBC usually, just contact your agent if you see a price drop. It is something, they won't tell you, just have to keep checking...

It depends on whether final payment has been made or not. If final payment has not yet been made, then most of the time a reduction in price can be given for any fare. (Notice the term 'most' as there are always exceptions to every rule.) However, on Carnival, if the price goes down after final payment has been made, then they will only make the change if you have the early saver fare and you'll get onboard credit for any difference.

Princess, as an example, will reprice your cruise and give you a refund if the price goes down after final payment has been made. So the rules are different depending on the cruise line.

Your agent can definitely help with all this and sometimes they can get things you can't get when prices go down.

Once again check your rate , ours went down $100.00 but under the More= merrier rate. Not sure how it works since we booked under early saver but sent the TA an e mail so lets see what happens.

I happened to check yesterday and the "Canadian Rates" dropped again. Balcony rooms starting at $569 IIRC. Once I figured it out and submitted the form, all our double balcony rooms got another $190 discount, and our rooms with 3 or more people on the "More = Merrier Rate" got $250 back!

Our group has saved over $600 per room now since booking in the fall of 2012!

....and only another 10 days to go

It's like playing a shell game with keeping up with the price changes. So we lost our $50.00 OBC when going with the new price drop but saved $100.00 on the cabin so we're still up another $50.00. Our insurance dropped $8.00 and we still have the TA's $125.00 OBC, I'm not complaining! Only 133 days to go.

Oops! Typo in my previous message. We sail in 100 days, not 10!

Who knows, maybe it will drop further, but I don't see how much lower it can go! I think this will be the cheapest cruise we have been on since 2006 when we started cruising!

Yeah, we lost some of those $50 shipboard credits as well, but you're still net better off with the new rate plus it's money you don't have to spend before your final payment is due...It is nice however to get on a cruise and have a credit waiting for you though.

Get another $100 credit (that can't be taken back) if you're on a 7 day cruise by buying 100 shares of Carnival stock We have that credit waiting for us

Another price drop. As far us it was only $20.00 and not enough to submit because it will take away from our TA OBC
Might want to check.

Yep, with all the special rates going on this month, it pays to have your agent double check them for you.

I just got a client $100 per person off the price of their inside cabin on a Princess cruise!

Pete, I did talk to our TA's assistant and she telling me we don't qualify because its after final payment? It's $30.00 cheaper , I just checked the price and others on our roll call received the price drop although I don't know what they booked under, I booked under the early saver so now in scratching my head.

Obviously, I don't know the specifics of your cruise, but if, in fact, you have the Early Saver Fare, Carnival will allow them to reduce the rate, even after final payment has been made. That's one of the big selling points of the Early Saver Fare. I just did this for a client last week and it was not a problem.

As for the onboard credit, again, I can't speak about that because I don't know the specifics on how you got it and who actually gave it to you (cruise line or the agent).

But I would definitely be asking some more questions about it until you get definitive information that satisfies you.

I did send an e- mail asking why she thinks this as others are getting OBC or a upgrade .
I did book ES and the credit I do have is throughout the TA so it should have no bearing on the price drop on Carnival. I'll stay on top of this for sure.
Thanks Pete.

Just got another $50 yesterday. The cruise we are currently booked on has dropped about $650 since we first booked it.

Let us know what happens because you should definitely get the decrease and you are correct that the OBC, since it was given by the TA and not by the cruise line, is not affected by the price code at all.
