Carnival Breeze Rescues Boaters

Funny how this story doesn't seem to be on CNN...

-----------------------------------------------------------

Carnival Breeze comes to the aid of two mariners in need of urgent medical care.

Yesterday evening at approximately 8:30 p.m., Carnival Breeze was alerted by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) that two adults on a sailboat were in need of urgent medical care. Carnival Breeze deviated course and proceeded to the location of the sailboat, roughly 24 miles southeast of Miami, and brought the individuals on board where they were evaluated by the ship’s physician.

Although the original plan was to transfer the two individuals to a USCG cutter, strong currents and large swells prevented a safe transfer so one of the guests whose condition was considered more serious was airlifted via a USCG helicopter last night and the other remained on board until Carnival Breeze reached Key West, its first scheduled port of call, this morning. Both individuals were taken to shoreside medical facilities.

Carnival Breeze will remain in Key West until 5 p.m. today and then continue on its current six-day cruise which departed yesterday from Miami. Carnival Breeze operates six- and eight-day Caribbean cruises from Miami year-round.

Kudos to the captain of Dream....It is refreshing to hear a good story involving a Carnival Ship....Nope, haven't heard it on the news here either.

Most good news goes by without a mention--had they dropped one of the people while loading him aboard, then it would have been plastered all over the news! ;)
Good for Carnival and crew for being able to help.

Just read your old posts. You seem to enjoy bashing Carnival. It's okay to give a negative post once in a while, but you seem to thrive on making contraversial remarks. Is there a happier you inside yourself?

If just "any" other ship responded, the outcome would not have been the same. Give credit when credit is due...Bravo Carnival!

The us Coast Guard divert The Cruise Ship Carnival Breeze , Which was approximately five-miles away,to provide a more stable platform to conduct a hoist. The us coast guard RB-M transport the 2 people to the cruise ship.Once aboard the cruise ship, the Coast Guard helicopter then hoisted the woman up with the heart condition and the other patient that was sea sick stay on the cruise ship and received medical care THE Breeze did a great job keep it up all cruise ship should help out . THE CARNIVAL BREEZE DID NOT PICK THEM OUT OF THE WATER THE US COAST GUARD CUTTER TRANSFER 2 PEOPLE TO THE CRUISE SHIP .THAT VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST BLOG JUST KEEPING IT REAL

Jason, what is the point of this debate? The bottom line is that two people that were in distress are now safe. period. end of story.
