Default western caribean shore excursions

I am look at a family cruise to the Western Caribean cruise on the Conquest for Oct. We have 8 yr,4 yr and 5 yr olds grands. On the shore excursions (Cozemel, Belize Honduras), which would be fun for their ages. It looks like Carnival has better excursions for these ages than some of the other cruise line I have researched. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

In Cozumel, I would suggest taking the family to Chankanaab Park, a short taxi from the pier. Huge beach, snorkeling, restaurant and a great place to spend the day...

For the most part, all cruise lines pretty much offer the same shore excursions. However, I'm not a big proponent of cruise line shore excursions because they are often too expensive, too regimented, and very crowded. I much prefer to do an independent company where it's quite possible we will be the only ones on the excursion and it costs less so we get to do what we want, when we want, without the crowds. Plus, most of the time, as Donna alluded to, often you can do the excursion on your own and therefore save alot of money, which is especially important for families.

I'll give you one example of where I would definitely suggest not doing something through Carnival; in Roatan, they offer a zip line and beach break tour. Had a friend of mine who use to live there and he said no one on the island would ever use the zip line Carnival offered - too short and not as safe as others on the island. And the time they spend on the beach is too short. We did the same excursion through an independent tour company and the zip line they used was reported by the locals as the best one on the island. And our time on the beach was a couple of hours longer than the one offered by Carnival. So we got a much better excursion for the same price and we only had 10 people on ours instead of 45 people on theirs.

Talk to your agent and hopefully they've been to each of the ports so they can advise you on what to do and how to do it. There are alot of options available depending on what you like to do. But if you just want to go to a beach, you really don't need an organized excursion.

Thanks for the input. We probably will do mostly beach stuff. Glad to get the advice about the zipline! I was looking at that. Is there a company that you would suggest?
Do you book online?
