Default Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao & Aruba Itinerary Feedback..

We're looking at taking this itinerary in late May on the Carnival Freedom. What do you guys think of these stops? We like this itinerary because we've never been to any of these places before and the price isn't too bad. So far we've been to Key West, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, Grand Cayman, St.Thomas, St.Lucia, St.Kitts and for the most part liked all of them. Once my wife gets the go ahead on her vacation time at work I think we're going to book unless these stops are horrid.

I think those islands would be a great itinerary, although haven't heard much about La Romana. May-be do a little research on that one, but otherwise, looks good.

Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao & Aruba Itinerary Feedback..

Grand Turk is basically a beach port. They have a huge pool as well with a Margaritaville. There are some shops as well, and, a huge store thats sells what the boutiques onboard sell, only more....the water is glorious, and this is a popular port.

LaRomana is in the Dominican Rebuplic, is it not? Have not heard too much about it at all.

Aruba is a dry, arid island, unlike most...There are casinos there and beautiful shops..you can go on drive yourself jeep tour, and visit Charlie's Bar, a local place, often seen on tv...dollar bills and memorabilia are all over...

Charlie's Bar Aruba

Curacao is famous for their liqueur of the same name, and you will find tastings all along your walk down the pier. I would suggest an island tour here, to enjoy all the isand has to offer, other then downtown, which I found disappointing.

I am guessing for all these ports to be in your itinerary,it must be a 10 day cruise at least? I sailed her sister ship the Liberty, and enjoyed my cruise,as I know you will as well.

Trip, its actually just an 8 day cruise so its pretty packed with activity. La Romana is in the DR, if nothing else it could be another nice beach day. I think we're going to go ahead and book it after my wife gets her vacation time approved. We're going with an inside cabin this time to save some money, they offered an upgraded to a port hole room which is larger as well but its all the way at the front nose of the ship and my wife is worried about the movement so we will probably just use our upgrade to get a higher deck interior room.

Just a note....going higher does not always mean less movment...mid deck, mid ship is the location many people seem to feel is the sweet spot

Let us know when you book...yayayay!

That is a great itinerary, I liked them all, especially Grand Turk with the beach right there, as well as Margaritaville (great pool!) Curacao is a beautiful port with liqueur tastings and upscale shopping. Aruba if I remember correctly had a big shopping area right off the ship, also great beaches. I have been to La Romana, but have to admit, did not get off the ship, so can't help you there. Enjoy your cruise!

Ok we booked the cruise, we're super excited. We ended up getting a interior room mid-ship on the "upper" deck level 6 to minimize movement. Thanks for all the replies.

I say go for it. We have sailed Carnival Freedom twice and love it. She is a great ship. DH and I spent four days in Curacao last year and I would love to go back. The town of Willemstad is beautiful. I suggest a walking tour and you must see the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue. If you decide to explore the island I recommend Shete Boka National Park. The Curacao Liquer Factory isn't much to see. But I can at least say I've been there.

We did this itinerary before. Grand Turk, well there isn't much to it, basically Carnivals own island like Princess Cay and the other private Islands. Dominican Republic is a 3rd world country, not much really going on there. Aruba has a great beach but not much else and Curacao was pretty boring also.

All in all the Carnival ship was great but we didn't really think much of the ports.

Down to the one month countdown and still don't have a good idea of what we're doing in each port. Looks like Grand Turk is pretty much a 100% beautiful beach day. Aside from that I'm open to suggestions, we have a 6 year old tagging along so keep that in mind.
