Default Formal Night on 5 day cruise

I know it is on the Carnival site somewhere but just can't locate it. What night is formal night on a 5 day cruise? I would expect 1st sea day but am not sure. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

You're correct Chief. On the 5 day "Paradise, it's the first sea day evening.

Thanks Sky. Now that we have moved from Lake Wales to Virginia it is a bit more of a hassle getting to the ports. This cruise is for our son and his wife. She had been on a cruise from hell in high school (bad weather, old ship, etc.) about 20 years ago and wanted to see what it was like now. Hopefully they will like it and we can get them to take longer ones. Thanks for the help.

Have a great cruise! may the weather be with you this time.

(I won't mention that she booked yet another cruise during hurricane season - in fact that last storm, Andrew, just kind of petered out, right?)

Paul,
Actually all 4 of us (wife and I included) are going. And yeah, it is that time of year. However, as long as we get to sea it will be worth it. Hey, as we say the worst day at sea is better than the best day at work! Thanks for the concern.

What night is formal night
I know it's a little over a year since I last sailed but I thought they did away with "Formal Night". Please correct me, if I am wrong.

Thanks.

Just returned from a five day cruise aboard the fun ship "Paradise". As noted above, "Cruise Elegant" evening was the first sea day, evening. Very nice indeed, and a fantastic cruise.

Barry514,
Actually you are correct. Formal Night has been replaced by Elegant Night. Formal wear is no longer required but the girls still like to get gussied up. I normally take a tux on a 7 day or longer cruise as I too like to get dressed up. However, it is not a requirement, just something we like to do.

Oddly enough, I too take my TUX and dress on cruise elegant night. I always perform in the "Showcase of Stars", or the "Legends Show", and in both of those shows, I do "Big Band" music, so I dress appropriately. I always notice, however, that there seem to be more folks who also dress formally. Maybe the trend will continue, and "Formal Night" will return?

Don't want to start a war here but it has always bothered me that CCL does not enforce those nights. I have seen people show up in shorts, jeans and such.

On Elegant Night, the recommended for the DR is slacks and a nice collared shirt. Coat are optional. NO short or jeans.

If people don't want to dress to what is suggested, then there also may optional places to dine. JMO

Sky, I went on Paradise in March. I really enjoyed that cruise. Very relaxing and not crowded. I liked it much better than the very crowded Dream. Since this ship is so close to home I hope to enjoy it often.

Just to close this out, the Elegant Night was the 1st sea day on the 5 day cruise to the Bahamas. And as usual there was a multitude of various outfits in the MDR. I must say though that all in all everybody looked good, tux or not. Thanks for all the comments from everybody.
