The 3/4 day cruises are usually filled with party goers, so if this is not your cuppa tea, you probably won't enjoy it the way you might want to. If air is in this equation, you might, as Donna suggested, try a 5-7 day cruise, since the cost of flying there could possibly be more than the cruise itself.
Call a cruise specialist travel agency to get the most up to,date info, as time of year could effect your choices of ships as well.

P&O (UK?) and Cunard both offer very different experiences, was there one style that you preferred over the other, if so which. It is very difficult to make a suggestion with limited information.
Also where would you want to be sailing to/from, and at what time of year as again these can make a huge differnce to the choices.
Enjoy looking, that's half the fun ;o)

I would recommend not less then 5 five days. Three days is not enough to really enjoy a cruise. As far as a cruise line you should try Royal or Carnival.
Talk to a good cruise TA. They are very helpful
