G'Morning! Long time, no see! GREAT to hear from you.
To answer your query,,,YES, ordinarily you will be given "Platinum" privileges for your whole cruise. Take a look at your boarding pass, and see if it gives you "Priority" status. If so, no problem, but if not, you could call Carnival and see if they'll do anything. In any case, you can hit the Guest Services desk once aboard, and ask them to issue your "Platinum" card. I'd bet you will be granted the platinum status.
Once again, great to see you, and wish I was cruising with you once again.

You should be granted you're platinum status...but as Sky mentioned look at your boarding pass to make sure. Carnival is very good about bumping people up to next level if they are going to make it while on the cruise. Happy sailing!

Not guaranteed, but it would be rare if you don't start the cruise form day 1 at the higher level.

"Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event a Member books a Cruise in which such Member will attain the necessary VIFP Points to reach a new Level during or by the end of such Cruise (a “Crossover Cruise”), CCL may, in its sole discretion, offer such Member the Benefits offered to Members of the higher Level during the Crossover Cruise."

As others posted, check your cruise documents.

Default Thanks for the info

Thank you for the answer concerning status. We envy you folks that have been there and done that
I had the same question although my wife and I are just reaching gold two days into our next cruise. Carnival guest services assured us that we will receive our gold card and status when we board our next cruise of 3 or more days.

I know this has been discussed before but I got a call from Carnival today asking if we wanted to book a cruise. As we will become platinum on our next cruise, day 4 if we do a 7 day, I asked if we would get the perks and priority check in for the cruise.
She said no we don't. She said we will get the platinum card and perks but will not get priority checkin. I asked her if she was sure as I had heard differently, she said she was positive.
Anyone know what really happens? Lol

First, you never want to book directly with the cruise line. If you have any problems, who do you think they represent?

And if you have any agent, it's not appropriate for Carnival to be contacting your directly - very unprofessional.

Get your agent involved and let them take care of this for you. They have contacts not available to you and can get more accurate information.

As for priority boarding, perhaps others with personal experience can chime in on the matter, but if they're making you Platinum for the cruise, then you should be getting all the perks of being Platinum and not just some of the perks. I've not heard of that being done before. Then again, most of these people who call from Carnival have only been working there for less than 6 months and are just there to sell you something - they're not really experienced on the policies and benefits - in fact, many times the information they provide is just guesswork and usually wrong.

If you book in advance you will get priority boarding. Your luggage tags will have "VIP" on them. You will be on the Platinum manifest and will get priority check in and boarding.

I turned Platinum during a Back to Overnight Back cruise. I sailed 4 days on the Inspiration and then spent the night on the Queen Mary. The next day I boarded the Carnival Miracle in Long Beach.

Because it was only 24 hours since I departed the Inspiration I had to go to Guest Services to get my Platinum Card and they made sure I had all the perks.

My wife turned Platinum on the third or fourth day of our Breeze cruise in October. She was on the Platinum Lounge list and received her Platinum Card and all amenities at boarding.

I think your "PVP" didn't know what they were talking about. Half of them don't.

Take care,
Mike
