Default Oceanview vs. Balcony room?

Hi all!

5/5/2018 on the Carnival Freedom will be my second cruise ever, super excited! Currently booked in an ocean view room (6C) but considering asking my TA if I can upgrade to a balcony... when I stay at hotels on the beach I love having balcony rooms so I can sit outside whenever I want...so I am thinking I'd love to do the same.

What's your input on the balcony rooms, worth the upgrade price? If I remember correctly it'll be about an extra $200 total (2 people in my room) for me to upgrade.

Would love any input you all may have.

It is pe Somali preference really.

We prefer a balcony. I am typically awake before the DW and slip out to the balcony for some reading. Of course, you can save the money and just go up to the lido, or lobby deck 3 and enjoy the sea air.

I always get a balcony. I love the sound of the ocean and to watch the stars and the moon in my own space. We often get breakfast delivered to our cabin and eat it in the balcony.

To each his own but I have been getting a balcony for our last 18 cruises.

Seems like a small price for an upgrade to a balcony, I would go for it...

We had a balcony on 3 out of 19 cruises. The first time we booked an OV but got a FREE upgrade to a balcony .We were cruising in a cold climate and never sat outside.
The second time we booked a balcony and loved it.
The third time they were painting balconies and advised passengers that if they had a problem to let them know.We said that I was using a CPAP machine and feared the fumes would go into the machine and that my wife is asthmatic. When we went to the cabin we found the deck being painted.

My wife will never book a balcony again.

I agree

My wife is a warm weather person, but she loved the balcony on our Alaska cruise. The views were spectacular and since we sailed in late July/early August, the weather was not cold.

We did spend some great moments on our balcony.

If it is not going to diminish any other aspect of your cruise, go for the balcony. I always choose a balcony after I had an ocean view and was disappointed.
