Default Carnival Paradise March 26 cruise

Sorry so late for the review, but we took an extra week to spend time with family after getting back to port. I'm going to try and give the best visual I can but this was our first time on Paradise, so regulars may need to put in their two sense here....We took the 3/26 sailing, the one right after drydock. On Friday we were notified by Carnival that boarding would be an hour later than our assigned time due to the amount of materials they had to unload from the ship after drydock. We arrived at 2pm, we were on the ship by 220pm. We did have priority boarding since we were in a suite. Once onboard, we went to our suite to check out the view and it seems they have reconfigured them possibly? Our bed was next to the window, but the pictures of past cruises on Paradise show the bed against the wall by the bathroom with the sofa next to the window. It was opposite. Our tub did not have whirlpool jets and the pics on line showed they did so I'm not sure if that was an upgrade. LOTS of storage in the bathroom and in the cabin itself. I had bought one of those over the door shoe storage things and we used it just for our shoes. One thing I'd recommend bringing more of, hangers. I folded a lot of my camisoles and tank tops because BF took all the hangers for his polos and button down shirts.

Food:

Guy's Burger Joint is amazing, as is the new Blue Iguana cantina located in front of the buffet. TIP: The main line for Guy's is right next to the left side door going into the buffet, but there is a 2nd line not many knew about about 10 feet towards the middle. Burgers were fresh, fries served with them and there's a toppings bar directly behind.

Blue Iguana Cantina was equally delicious but the line there was longer because they have it separated into stations, tacos, burritos, salads. Also additional toppings behind near the drink stations.

Buffet - Disgusting. Appalled watching bathing suits and barefeet walk by us continuously while eating. How is that NOT a health hazard? It's disgusting to see a butt jiggling by from a bathing suit bottom not covered up, when I'm eating actual jello. And barefeet? YUCK! The food was not good. The 24hr pizza and deli is here as well, but the thought of walking through the buffet to get to it, no thanks.

Dining Room - food was ok. I had vegetable lasagna the first night and it tasted like flour. From that point on, I ordered whatever chicken they had available and it was better. The chocolate melting cake was definitely the best dessert they had each night, but the last night it was like soup, not really as good as the other nights.

Overall, not impressed with the food. I had only been on Royal Caribbean prior to this cruise and the food on RCCL was really impressive.

Waterworks for the kids, seemed like the kiddos really enjoyed their time there. One night there was a leak somewhere and being that it's located over the buffet, they had to close down the buffet including pizza and ice cream due to the flooding in there. It was fixed the next day though.

The one thing I did not like, or maybe we were unaware of and naive, lack of direction. Getting off the ship in Grand Cayman, there was no signage as to where we are going, it's basically a follow the masses direction. Cozumel was clear cut since we were docked there and there was only one way to go. The last day, during disembark, again, no direction. The announcements kept saying passengers in zone whatever WITH their bags, may make their way down to X to get off the ship. We did not have bags with us, and we were in a suite, but we didn't want to hold up the line when getting off the ship because we may not have been there at the right time. We sat in the Leonardo Lounge for approximately an hour and a half waiting for some sort of direction. After hearing, zones 4,5,6,7,8, etc etc etc on the announcement, I looked at my BF and he went to find someone. The staff member apologized profusely, but why are there not staff members in the meeting areas directing people? Baffling. We sat on board for an hour longer than we needed to. However, customs was a breeze, stepped into the line, and out in less than 2 minutes. lol

Summary: Not happy with the amount of kids running amok and out of control. IE: Teens running through the casino on the last night playing a game of hide and seek or tag or something....not one Carnival employee did anything about it. Takes about 1/2 second for them to topple over an elderly person and injure them. Not impressed by the food, and we're not big drinkers anymore so on a limited budget, we kind of got bored? The pool was overcrowded with kids and turned from blue to almost green/brown by the end of the day, so that was not something we wanted to do. Smoking area just outside the casino but only about 6 - 8 seats, outside on deck 11 overlooking the pool deck, and about 8-9 tables maybe? We spent most of our time in these two places talking to some wonderful people. That was the highlight, talking to complete strangers and learning about them and their cruise experiences.

As I said, these are just my observations as I had never been on this ship before, nor any Carnival ship. Not a fan though, probably will be booking our next cruise on one of the new RCCL mega ships, or Norwegian.
