Back in the time of the old boards, there was a menu on the left hand side of the page at all times to allow navigation to other parts of the cruisemates site. Since the new boards went up, that whole area is just blue for me, and the Cruisemates logo is cut off at "Cruis". Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is it my problem alone?

Happened to me once too actually. If u were coming in through a favorite places icon.. try switching and just typing in www.cruismates.com or try this <http://cruisemates.com>
Hope it works. If so, just save the new link in favorites.
Sorry you hate the new boards Viv. Most of think they are far better. I believe it any message board is a matter of comfort level and just getting a few patterns that you use to navigate them.
I think one key os to remember this: a "TOPIC" is a group of messages about a coomon topic (also known as a "thread"), a message is a single post from a user.
Try using the "next message" button at the top of the list of messages. Or look at the list of all the messages in the topic in the list below the message (this is what I do).
Try clicking on some of the options above - there is "flat view" to give you all the messages on one page, and there is "view topics only" to hide the replies.
However you want to set them up you can. I think they are pretty easy to use.
This message board is horrible. I have yet to figure out how to navigate through this thing. This is actually the first time I have forced myself to use it. I have gone into it several times and have chosen to get out and go to CruiseCritics due to frustration and basically, just being lost. Ya, I have a problem with it also. Who did this?
For Slav and all those who were used to viewing message boards in some format closer to our older boards I'd suggest checking out the grey block near the top of the screen. There just click on "FLAT VIEW". As Paul explained above, this will place all messages on that TOPIC on the same page. U can then use NEXT MESSAGE or just scroll down to read them.
As u feel more comfortable with the boards, you can start trying some of the different options available here.
My presonal favorites for options are 1. if u check the " EMail repies to the thread" box u are automatically notified by e-mail of responses to that topic.
2. the ability to quote 3. the ability to post pictures easily with posts (to do this you just have to click on browse, find the picture in your files, and double click on it. It then attaches the file to your post)
I am FAR FAR away from being anything close to computer literate. I know how to turn them on, and barely type. I've just learned to understand the system by playing with it.
When Ii first saw the new boards tonight I didn['t like the looks of them either. Then when I realized how very simple it was to follow the threads I was very happy. If I'm limited with time, I can only visit the threads I'm interested in instead of reading each posting. Everything is very clear.
