Default Tim Question

OK. Panic time. On two other message boards there is postings of the Infinity's first two cruises being canceled. I called Celebrity and they said no. But people are insisting they are. Have you heard any thing?

Cindy,

Apologies for the prevois abbrevaiated answer. The first three sailings are indeed registering "closed" status in the res systems, but that is due to the fact that these three sailing sold phenomenally well; the maiden voyage (Canal) and the first two sailings to Hawaii; this is the first time a Celebrity ship is cruising to Hawaii.

Applying logic to the situation, if the first three were cxld, Celebrity would be forced to cancel the fourth as there would be no reason to then frun a first voyage from San Diego to Ft Lauderdale. That sailing would be cxld as well.

There is still space on the fourth sailing back through the canal to Florida and they are still taking reservations.

In summation, if they were going to cancel any of the first sailings, they would have to cancel and thereby close the first four due to the logistics.

Tim;
Why would peoples TA's tell them that Celebrity has canceled these sailing? I totally believe you, your not in question but if I were these people I would question my TA.

Cindy,

I believe that many TA's went into a panic whe seeing the sailings listed as "closed" and just made assumptions.

Celebrity had Infinity scheduled for delivery on January 7th and as the first revenue cruise is not until February 3rd, they seem to have ample "padding" in the schedule.

Cindy...hope this helps!

I just spoke with the wholesale TA that I have my Infinity Hawaii booking through. Just yesterday (Friday) he booked 4 new reservations for the Feb 17 cruise. This is the 2nd cruise. He is able to still make new reservations because his company has secured such a large block of group space. This space is not available to people who try to book directly with Celebrity either by themselves or through their own TA's. Whatever space Celebrity had to sell outside of this (and other) group blocks is now apparently sold out. I was fortunate that a Celebrity agent referred me to this wholesaler because his company was holding 100% of the cabins in the category I was looking for. Don't panic....yet! !
